Warcraft 3 To Be Gloriously Remastered In 4K By Blizzard In Warcraft 3 Reforged

Blizzard has kept one of its classic games, Warcraft III, going for a long time. In fact, it was still updating the game last year, 15-years after it launched, to keep fans happy. Blizzard has announced that it will be remastering Warcraft III, dubbing the game Warcraft III: Reforged and updating it with glorious 4K resolution graphics to take advantage of modern displays and hardware. Blizzard says that the game will integrate "cutting-edge modeling and rendering" and that every hero, unit, building, and environment in the game has been rebuilt from the ground up.

The remastered game will allow players to relive the events that happened in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne. That means there are 62 missions for players to enjoy across Kalimdor, Lordaeron, Northrend, and beyond. In total, there are over 40 hours of gameplay, according to Blizzard, with over four hours of reforged cutscenes.

Players can control over 20 heroes and villains from Warcraft lore while gaining experience to level up, master new abilities, and enhance units. Some key heroes that players can control in the game are Arthas, Thrall, Kel'Thuzad, and Tyrande from Reign of Chaos and Maiev, Kael'thas, Sylvanas, and Rexxar from The Frozen Throne. Warcraft III: Reforged will have four races to choose from including human, orcs, undead, and night elves. Each of the races offers players unique units, abilities, champions, and strategies.

Blizzard notes that there is an "endless universe" of player-created games to keep the action going with MOBAs, tower defense, ARPGs, survival games, and other game types; the World Editor will allow players to build custom game types. The Reforged edition features rebalanced gameplay with lots of changes to heroes, units, and buildings; Blizzard says the changes will bring the game into the modern age.

A Warcraft: III Reforged Spoils of War Edition that unlocks rewards in other Blizzard games, like a Meat Wagon Mount in World of Warcraft, a Third War Card Back in Hearthstone, four heroes in Heroes of the Storm, and other unannounced rewards will be available. Blizzard says that the game will launch in 2019, but an exact launch date is unannounced; preorders are underway now with the Standard Edition at $29.99 and the Spoils of War Edition at $39.99. A third version offers the Spoils of War Edition and a virtual ticket for Blizzcon for $79.99.
