WD Launches Sentinal DX4200 Ultra-Compact Storage Server
The WD Sentinel DX4200 features a four-bay design with tool-less and tray-less installation. It supports up to 16TB of capacity, and the drives are also hot swappable -- if an HDD goes down for whatever reason, you can swap it out with a new one without skipping a beat.
"The WD Sentinel DX4200 provides the enterprise grade storage and file services capabilities of Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 workgroup, in a compact package that is ideal for to the SMB segment," said John Loveall, Principal Program Manager, Windows Server and System Center, Microsoft. "We are pleased to work with WD to serve our mutual customers."
You'll find two GbE LAN ports on the DX4200. They support teaming modes like Adaptive Fault Tolerance (AFT), which automatically switches to the second network port in case of a network failure. And on the topic of redundancy, you can also configure the DX4200 with a second power supply for added peace of mind.
The WD Sentinel DX4200 is available now at select U.S. retailers and online at WD's website -- it runs $1,700 (MSRP) for 8TB and $2,200 (MSRP) for 16TB.
