Wii Price Cut Official, Mario Kart and Racing Wheel Included
Proving that patience is a virtue, Nintendo today confirmed earlier rumors of a Wii price cut by slashing the price of its flagship console to $150, but it doesn't stop there. Available in either black or white, the lower priced Wii is part of a new bundle that also includes the Mario Kart game and a matching colored Wii Wheel, replacing the previously included Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resorts games.
"From the day it launched, Wii has let players of all ages and experience levels have fun with one another," said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "The new suggested retail pricing for both the hardware and select games will help create more of these magical moments for even greater numbers of people."
It will also keep budget-minded gamers interested in the current generation Wii as rumors heat up about a Wii 2 console. At $150 with a game and accessory thrown in, the new Wii bundle is priced about right.
Lower pricing will go into effect starting May 15. At the same time, Nintendo also plans to launch its 'Nintendo Selects' collection of Wii games, which are a set of popular titles priced at $20. These include The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Animal Crossing: City Folk, Mario Super Sluggers, and Wii Sports.
