Windows 10 Insider Preview 19546 Adds Powerful Graphing Mode To Venerable Calculator App

While Microsoft isn't announcing any radical changes under the hood of Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 19546, there is one big addition to a long-standing member of the Windows family. The Windows Calculator app is gaining a new graphing mode, which Microsoft sees as being a boon for students.

"Graphing capabilities are also essential for students who are beginning to explore linear algebra," writes Microsoft. "With this feature, we hope to empower students to learn mathematics by improving their conceptual understanding and attitudes towards math."

Microsoft goes on to say that in this initial release, you can plot one or more equations on the graph, add equations with variables, and trace plots using your mouse to analyze your equations.

In addition to the new graphing mode in Windows Calculator, Microsoft has also made the following changes with this build:

• We fixed an issue resulting in Timeline not showing any activities.
• We fixed an issue resulting in Outlook search not working for some.
• We fixed an issue significantly impacting Task View reliability for some.
• We fixed an issue where pressing Spatial Sound -> Off in the sound menu caused Explorer.exe to crash.
