Windows 10 Mobile Retail Launch Nears As Build 10586.11 Hits Slow Ring
We've been hearing about Windows 10 Mobile for a long time now, and the good news is the wait is almost over for devices not named Lumia 950 or Lumia 950 XL. Microsoft and its team of developers continue to make progress towards a gold release. In the meantime, the newest build (10586.11) is now being pushed out to Windows Insiders subscribed to slow ring updates.
It comes just two weeks after it was pushed out to fast ring subscribers. One of the things that's significant about this update is that it's believed to be one of the final ones before Microsoft drops a Release to Manufacturing (RTM) build. There's even some chatter that this could be the RTM version.
Either way, built 10586.11 includes a handful of fixes. Straight from the mouth of Microsoft, they include:

Either way, built 10586.11 includes a handful of fixes. Straight from the mouth of Microsoft, they include:
- Fixes the issue that caused the Start experience to become corrupted (garbled) after upgrading and restoring a backup from a phone that had a different resolution.
- You should now be able to set your default save locations via Settings > System > Storage and it will correctly reflect the current storage settings. Your SD card should no longer show up as a garbled name in Storage settings either.
- Moving apps to a SD card should no longer cause those apps to crash. We’ve made improvements to the Messaging + Skype app – through both app updates via the Store and also on the server side.
- This should be seeing less resuming/loading text when switching apps.
- The physical camera button should be working again if it wasn’t working for you before.
- Apps and games should download from the Store more reliably.
There are also some lingering known issues to be aware of. Microsoft said it discovered a bug that causes the file system to become partially corrupted after doing a factory reset, which in turn can cause your phone to go into a reboot loop. Additionally, the tile for Insider Hub remains under All apps but doesn't open, and deploying Silverlight apps through Visual Studio to your phone still won't work in this build.
Despite these issues, Microsoft's Gabe Aul said that internal testers have been "loving this build," noting that it's "very fast and smooth, and makes a great daily driver."
