With Donation Milestone Made, Celebrities 'Arise' From Digital Deaths

We haven't heard much from those celebrities who signed off from Twitter and other social networking sites in a sort of digital death to promote "World AIDS Day." That was last Wednesday, but the problem is that they were having trouble raising the $1 million necessary to resurrect themselves.

They probably assumed things would be over much quicker, but they should thank billionaire philanthropist Stewart Rahr: his $500,000 helped the celebrities, which included Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Khloé Kardashian, Lenny Kravitz, Jay Sean, Swizz Beatz, Serena Williams, and more, end their drought. In fact, Rahr contributed fully half of the $1 million, which will go to Keys' "Keep a Child Alive" organization.

Some celebrities immediately started Tweeting, and it should be noted that Usher actually ended his digital death a tad too early. On Monday night, after the goal was reached, Keys herself Tweeted, "Big Shout to YOU!! ALL THE ARTISTS involved!!! And STEWIE RAH!!! Together we raised $1M to fight AIDS and SAVE REAL LIVES!!!!!!"
