Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus PC Requirements Revealed Ahead Of October 27 Release

Wolfenstein II 01
Are you ready to "Make America Nazi-Free Again"? Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus launches on Friday for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows, and the game has already drawn a lot of controversy for the aforementioned slogan and its rather brutal and risqué trailers. However, all that fans of the Wolfenstein franchise want to know is what kind of hardware will they need to starting curb-stomping some Nazi bad guys?

Well, Bethesda and MachineGames have released the system requirements for Wolfenstein II, and it appears that you won't need to have a burly system to be able to enjoy the game at high detail settings. Here’s what you’ll need to get up and running:

Minimum

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770/AMD FX-8350 or better
  • GPU: NVIDIA GTX 770 4GB/AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB or better
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • OS: Win7, 8.1, or 10 (64-Bit versions)
  • Storage: 55GB

Recommended

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4770/AMD FX-9370 or better
  • GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB/AMD Radeon RX 470 4GB or better
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • OS: Win7, 8.1, or 10 64-Bit
  • Storage: 55GB

Of course, if you want to play the game balls-out at 4K resolution with detail settings cranked up to the max, you're probably going to want a beefier GPU like an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080/1080 Ti or an AMD Radeon RX Vega 64. The game supports 4:3, 16:9, 16:10 and 21:9 aspect ratios, the game has full support for Vulkan API.

"Using Vulkan when developing has allowed us to utilize the power of AMD's VEGA graphics chips in ways that were not possible before, giving us fine grained control over the performance and feature set of the GPU without having to sacrifice artistic intent," writes developer MachineGames. "Combined with the flexibility of AMD's hardware, Vulkan gives us the artistic freedom to deliver Wolfenstein without compromise."

Wolfenstein II: New Colossus takes place in a gruesome alternate reality where Nazis actually won World War II and have extended their empire to the United States. But series hero BJ Blazkowicz has other plans in mind, and vows to take country back from goose-stepping soldiers with a group of coconspirators known as “The Resistance”.
