Microsoft Xbox Game Pass For Windows 10 PC Pricing And Games Lineup Revealed
Microsoft told us last October that the Xbox Game Pass was coming to the PC platform and would bring with it a bunch of games that gamers could play for one low price, just as it does on the Xbox console. At the end of May, Microsoft announced that the Xbox Game Pass would hit Windows 10 PCs with 100 game titles in tow. E3 2019 is underway and Microsoft has offered up all the details that we have been waiting to hear about the service.
TheXbox Game Pass for PC beta has launched with a regular price of $4.99 per month, but during its introductory period, the service is only $1.00 monthly. Microsoft says that there is a "huge variety" of games from every genre and new games will be added on an ongoing basis to ensure that something new is always available to play. The monthly service fee also gives PC gamers the ability to purchase a game they like at up to 20% off and get up to 10% off related game add-ons and consumables.
Gamers who subscribe will be able to download and play new games from Xbox Game Studios the day they release along with recent PC titles and indie games. The service is month to month, and those who sign up for the beta service going right now will be moved to the service at full price at some point. The price is also subject to change; if it goes up in the future, you will automatically be charged the new rate.
Gamers can buy DLC, virtual currency, and in-game items for games that they play using the service, but Microsoft warns that if the game is removed from the Xbox Game Pass for PC service, players will lose access to any purchased content unless they buy the game. In-game content purchased by those who cancel their memberships will also be lost. Microsoft is clear that the games don't stream; it says that feedback showed that streaming and connectivity issues were identified as a "major pain point" for game subscription services.
Xbox Game Pass for PC lets you download and play the games offline for up to 30 days. Microsoft isn't particularly clear on this point, but it seems that you can download and play these games as long as you have a subscription and as long as the game is in the catalog if you have an internet connection available. All the available games on the service are listed on the Xbox Game Pass or Recently Added channel in the Xbox Game Pass lounge.
