Xbox One Leaked Software Build Hints At Cortana, Amazon Alexa And Google Assistant Voice Integration
Virtual assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant have been growing in popularity in recent years as more and more devices gain support for the assistants. This growth is coming despite some significant privacy issues with Alexa recently, notably when the Amazon Alexa device recorded a private conversation and sent it to a random contact on the device. Amazon came back with a convoluted answer as to how that breach of privacy happened and vowed to make it so this couldn't happen again.
The image below shows a screenshot claimed to be of a coming Xbox One build that offers users the ability to enable voice control with digital assistants. In that image available assistants called out include Microsoft's own Cortana, Alexa, and Google Assistant. The screenshot notes that after users enable the digital assistants on that screen, they will need to search for Xbox in the app for the assistant's skills on the phone.
There is no indication of what features the digital assistants might support on the Xbox One. Kinect was originally how users could control the Xbox from across the room with their voice and it's easy to imagine digital assistants taking over those functions. You can likely expect things like the ability to launch apps for watching video services and controlling those video services using voice commands.
