XFX Offers GTX 200 Early Adopters Cash Back

Just before the July 4 Independence Day holiday, we broke some news that stated NVIDIA had plans to drastically reduce prices on their flagship GeForce GTX 260 and GTX 280 graphics cards.  Then a few days later, sure enough, the rumor became fact and prices dropped significantly for both products.

Anytime a halo product like the GTX 200 series gets treated to a major price cut so close to its initial release, early adopters are inevitably disappointed.  After all, they paid a price premium for a product that almost immediately lost a large chunk of its value.  Heck, in the tech sector, such moves can even
spur lawsuits from disgruntles customers.

To show their appreciate of those early adopters that forked over some big coin to be one of the first to own a GTX 200 series card, XFX has just implemented a program that will reward said customers with cold hard cash...

"Being the first to do anything is a rewarding experience. And now, if you were one of the first to purchase one of our XFX GeForce GTX 280 or GeForce GTX 260 graphics cards, there’s another potential reward in your future—cold hard cash.

Sudden changes in the market have caused the price for the XFX GeForce GTX 280 and the XFX GeForce GTX 260 to drop. As a result, we want to thank you for your continued loyalty and for believing in the XFX brand. And, to show our commitment to you, we are issuing up to $120 CASH BACK to customers who purchased one of these cards between June 16, 2008 and July 11, 2008. The actual amount of cash back will be determined based on the model purchased, as well as the date and price of the purchase."

Nowhere does it say XFX has to do anything like this, but from an enthusiast's standpoint, XFX should be commended for doing right by their customers.  If you, or anyone you know, purchased an XFX branded GeForce GTX 200 series card between those dates, do yourself a favor and head on over to XFX's site to see if you qualify.
