XFX Teases Radeon RX Vega Card With Custom PCB And Dual Fans
Our first look at the card comes thanks to Mark Regimbal, community manager over at XFX, who posted images to reddit.
The first thing that caught our attention is most definitely the twin red fans, which are ensconced in a carbon fiber-esque shroud. It's a dramatic departure from the rather Plain Jane look of the single-fan reference Radeon RX Vega cards that we've seen so far. We should also note that while boards up to this point have included the 8+6 pin PCIe power connectors on the far end of the PCB, the XFX places these very close to the top center of the board (roughly in between the two fans). Speaking of the PCB, it looks relatively short compared to its forebears.
Also visible in the pictures are the large cooling system complete with copper heatpipes, and a standard arrangement for the I/O ports. These consist of three DisplayPort and one HDMI from what we can tell (just like the reference designs).
Flipping the card over to its backside, we see a rather beefy backplate that gives us a clear look at the aluminum fins of the cooler along with logos for XFX and Vega.
Although the reference boards that we've seen up to this point feature dual 8-pin PCIe connectors, the fact that this board features the 8+6 arrangement leads us to believe that this just might be a Radeon RX Vega 56. However, we'll have to wait for official confirmation from XFX on that point. Likewise, we also don't have information on pricing, clock speeds or availability, but stay tuned as we dig for those details.
