Xiaomi’s China-Only 5-inch Mi 4c Flagship Phone Brings Snapdragon 808 And USB-C For $200

Xiaomi is a major force in the Chinese smartphone market and, in time, the company envisions being a dominant player in the U.S. Should Xiaomi attempt to do that, it could prove a major headache for Samsung and Apple, especially if it brings with it devices like its new Mi 4c, a flagship mobile phone without the top end price tag.

There are two models of the Mi 4c, one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that will sell for 1,299 Chinese yuan (around $200 in U.S. currency) and another with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage for 1,499 Chinese yuan (~$235). Those are retail prices, not subsidized or any representative of any kind of special promotion.

Other specs include a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor clocked at 1.8GHz, 13-megapixel rear facing camera with phase detection autofocus, 5-megapixel front facing wide-angle camera, 3,080mAh battery, Quick Charge 2.0 support, 4G LTE connectivity, dual SIM support, and a USB Type-C port.

The Mi 4c supports some interesting features, one of which is called Edge Tap -- just tap the edge of the display to take a selfie. You can also wake the device without pressing the power button by double tapping the screen. Finally, the Mi 4c can serve as a universal infrared remote control.

Xiaomi's limiting the launch of the Mi 4c to China, where it will be available starting tomorrow.
