ASUS Zen AiO Pro Z240IC Review: 4K All-In-One With Guts And Glitz

ASUS Zen AiO Pro Software And Experience

For the most part, the Asus Zen AiO Pro comes across as a well-designed all-in-one that strikes a good form, function and performance balance. One glaring functionality issue, though, is that the system has no height adjustment support. No one wants to stick monitor risers under such a sleek PC, but if you need the Zen AiO Pro to be higher or lower, you’re on your own for a solution. On the upside, the screen can tip up and down, which might help mitigate the problem a bit if you aren’t happy with the system’s height.

We streamed shows with Netflix and HBO Now on the Zen AiO Pro and the system handled them flawlessly. The screen is bright and playback of shadowy scenes in Bourne Identity, for example, were blanced and crisp. The display features 100% of the sRGB color gamut and 85% of Adobe RGB, according to Asus, and in general, color response and uniformity is excellent. With a resolution of 3840x2160, images are very sharp. We found the 10-point touchscreen to be extremely responsive to typical taps and swipes as well.

Still, the Zen AiO Pro suffers from a bit of glare. We sometimes had to tilt the screen to comfortably watch a show. And because the glass goes all the way to the edge, the black bezel ended up reflecting things in the room; every time we moved, we could see movement reflected in bezel area. It can be a little distracting but it's not a showstopper.

One of the most fun features of the Zen AiO Pro is the Intel RealSense 3D camera, which lets you use certain RealSense-related apps to control the computer with hand gestures. The system includes Intel’s RealSense Training app to get you started. You can also use Windows 10’s Hello feature to log into your Windows account with facial recognition, thanks to the camera.

As for software, you won’t find bloatware on the Zen AiO Pro hardly at all. Asus installed a copy of McAfee Internet Security, but otherwise, the system is ready for you to make it your own.
