ASUS ZenFone Zoom Review: An Android With True 3X Optical Zoom

Performance: Browsing and JavaScript

Next, we'll take a look at how the ASUS ZenFone Zoom compares to other smartphones by examining a few benchmarks that are currently available on the Web or in the Google Play Store.

First, let’s take a look at the JetStream JavaScript benchmark, which has replaced SunSpider in our suite of browsing tests. According to the JetStream website:

JetStream is a JavaScript benchmark suite focused on the most advanced web applications. Bigger scores are better.

Although we’re still building our list of comparison scores for this benchmark, the ZenFone Zoom performed a bit below expectations. Being slotted between the A9 and Moto X Pure Edition, both of which are phones from last year, means that you aren't getting top-tier performance out of this handset.

In the BrowserMark 2.1 test, the ZenFone Zoom clocks in just a hair beneath the ZenFone 2, which makes sense given the shared internal makeup. Compared to the industry at large, it's around the middle of the pack. Which, again, makes sense given its mid-range price point.
