CybertronPC CLX Osiris 14 Gaming Laptop Review

CybertronPC CLX Osiris 14 ATTO Disk, SunSpider And Cinebench

The CybertronPC CLX Osiris 14 is a gaming laptop, through-and-through, but any laptop that has the muscle for today’s PC games should also be a competent performer when it comes to ordinary content creation, web and business tasks. With that in mind, we kicked off our testing with ATTO Disk, SunSpider, Cinebench and PCMark 8 (on the next page) before diving into the graphics
tests.

ATTO Disk Benchmark
Peak Sequential Storage Throughput
The ATTO Disk Benchmark gives us a look at the CLX Osiris 14’s SSD performance. CybertronPC stocked our test system with a 256GB Samsung 950 Pro M.2 module.

The NVMe interface makes for fast throughput, as we see in the CLX Osiris 14’s scores. The laptop’s SSD topped the 2GBs mark and provided solid write speeds as well. Samsung's 950 SSD Pro is a good choice for a high-performance laptop like the CLX Osiris 14.

Sunspider Javascript Benchmark
Javascript Processing Performance
Next up, we have some numbers from the SunSpider JavaScript benchmark. According to the SunSpider website:
This benchmark tests the core JavaScript language only, not the DOM or other browser APIs. It is designed to compare different versions of the same browser, and different browsers to each other. Unlike many widely available JavaScript benchmarks, this test is real-world, balanced and statistically sound.
We should note that this is more of a platform test, in that different browser versions, associated with different OS types can and do affect scores. However, among the Windows 10 powered machines here, all things are relatively equal.

The CLX Osiris 14 started its testing with a bang, producing the best score in our comparison pool. Dell’s XPS 15, which is also equipped with an Intel Core i7-6700HQ, took a (very close) second place in this test.

Cinebench R11.5
3D Rendering On The CPU And GPU
This is a multi-threaded, multi-processor aware benchmark that renders a photorealistic 3D. This scene makes use of various algorithms to stress all available processor cores. The rate at which each test system was able to render the entire scene is represented in the graph below.

CybertronPC Osiris Cinebench Score

The CLX Osiris 14 again took the top spot, outpacing the Dell XPS 15. The victory here isn’t surprising (in the OpenGL test), as the XPS 15 has GeForce GTX 960M graphics to the CLX Osiris 14’s GTX 970M. Interestingly, the CLX Osiris also beat out the Asus ROG Strix, which has the same processor and graphics as CybertronPC’s laptop. Perhaps the ASUS machine throttles more.
