XFX Specifics & Some Eye Candy
Unlike the majority of launch articles we've written in the past, for this one we were seeded with an actual retail-ready product, rather than the traditional reference boards of the past. The GeForce 7800 GT we tested here came to us by way of XFX, and included a full compliment of accessories and extras.

XFX ships their new GeForce 7800 GT with a very complete assortment of accessories. To compliment the card's ViVo capabilities (Video-In / Video-Out), XFX includes a pair of S-Video cables with their 7800 GT, along with a dongle that's equipped with component and S-Video outputs, and an S-Video input. There is also a dual-Molex to 6-Pin PCI Express power adapter bundled with the card, in addition to a pair of DVI-to-DB15 adapters, and a pair of user's manuals. But, what is perhaps the XFX GeForce 7800 GT's most appealing extra, is the software bundle. On top of the obligatory driver CD, XFX included three full version games with the card - the DVD version of FarCry, X2, and MotoGP 2. They may not be today's most sought after titles, but all three of these games are well worth playing, especially FarCry.

The fundamental reason for buying a high-end graphics card like the GeForce 7800 GT is, of course, gaming, so before we got to the business of benchmarking this puppy, we first installed it into our test system, and just played some games for a while. We spent some time playing Half Life 2, Doom 3, Battlefield 2, and the brand new F.E.A.R demo. The GeForce 7800 GT performed excellently with all of the games we played, and was perfectly capable of running them at high-resolutions with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering enabled.

We snapped off a few screenshots in Battlefield 2 and F.E.A.R. to give those of you with older graphics cards and idea as to what you're missing out on. We aren't going to do a comprehensive image quality comparison between NVIDIA and ATI hardware here however, because we've already covered the topic multiple times in the last few weeks.
