Even though DDR2 memory may be the current talk of the town, thanks to Intel's platform upgrade, there are plenty of P4, Athlon, and Athlon 64 owners that still use standard DDR based systems.  Reason being, it's almost always cheaper to stay slightly behind the curve when purchasing hardware.  It's probably never been more true these days than ever before.  Although technology can't stand still, current software and user habits simply don't require every user to go out and buy the latest and greatest every few months.  Case in point might be the current crop of i915/i925x motherboards.  Upgrading to one of these motherboards in many cases requires a complete overhaul... Hello and welcome to the evening portion of our news program ;) I just finished stuffing myself with everything the freezer had to offer. Oh, how I wish typing would reduce more calories. Alright, I need to get case modding, so without further ado, here's your headlines... CORSAIR TWIN2X1024-4300C3 DDR-2 MEMORY REVIEW @ PCStats "In it, PCSTATS is testing out two brand new 512MB sticks of Corsair Twin2X1024-4300C3 DDR2 memory. Corsair is consistently a market leader in the memory field, and they were among the first to announce performance grade DDR-2 RAM for enthusiasts. Talk about being on the ball." Hello and good evening folks :) Looks like we got a decent storm today, everything has a coating of ice on it. Will it last? Probably not, I hear it's supposed to warm up early next week. I love these freak winters... and I also love tech news, and so don't you, so let's get to it. Coolermaster CoolDrive 5 Hard Drive Cooler @ ExtremeMHz "The CoolDrive 5. Sporting two color changing analog dials and a 40mm cooling fan, this 5.25" bay device is certainly cool in both senses of the word. I'll put it through its paces and make sure it's worth your dollars...so on with the review!" Corsair XMS Xpert Arrives @ Legit Reviews "You better believe it! Corsair pulls out all the stops and has already... Read more...
Well it's almost Christmas, and by this time tomorrow I should be eating the food of the holidays :) Turkey, ham, potatoes, squash, and much more... I can't wait! Last I heard, we might get some snow tomorrow, so be safe and have yourself a Merry Christmas! Samsung SCX 4100 Multifunction Printer @ GideonTech.com "I've always been wary of multifunction printers as they provide a lot of options but none are all that great on it's own. Whether it be scanning or printing an image, it used to be better to just buy separate devices and hooking them up. With SCX4100 from Samsung, things may just have changed." Corsair Flash Voyager 512MB USB Flash @ PCStats "In this review, PCStats is... Read more...
Well folks, my package finally arrived and I couldn't be happier with my results. So far I'm running it at a stable 2.34GHz, which is close to the speed of a 3800 . Not bad for a $155 "budget" CPU. I hope all your winter overclocking sessions go as smoothly :) ATake Phantom Robot ChipsMod IV Chipset Cooler @ BigBruin "There are certainly other coolers, but none of them can be compared to the ChipsMod IV's unique looks. As for the performance, that's marginal without the fan, giving only a 2 degree C advantage over the stock MSI heat sink. Add the fan on there, and that improves to almost a 6 degree C difference!" Corsair TwinX1024-4400C25PT Memory Review @ PCStats "These... Read more...
Good morning all.  It looks like we have a few more last pushes of reviews before the holidays kick in.  Did you get all of your shopping done?  All I can say is thank God for Amazon.  My total time spent in the mall shopping this year was less than 2 hrs and even that wasn't too terrible.  Now I just need to prepare for all the extra eating that comes along with package.  This morning we have a few tid-bits for you, so let's jump into it...  Matrix Orbital MX222 LCD Kit @ Bjorn3D: "Case mods have gone from being a simple fad to an all out competition between friends, foes, and everyone in between. Everywhere you go there is someone with a PC filled with... Read more...
Good afternoon to all of you, it's certainly a great afternoon for me. According to FedEx, my Athlon 64 package is supposed to arrive today. With all of my excitement, I realize I'm still a little kid a Christmas time. The cold weather, the snow, and of course the new toys... it still brings back that same feeling. Though now that I'm older, I'm able to appreciate the family gatherings a little bit more, but the gathering of new hardware is almost as good :) Mushkin PC2-5300 vs. Corsair PC2-5400 review @ MetkuMods "With the latest chipsets there have been many new terms and technologies introduced to the public. In system memory this meant the introduction of DDR2 memory modules. With lower... Read more...
I have come to a realization today... I collect way too much computer related junk. All I was looking for was a CD-Rom drive, so I go into my closet to see what I have. I pull out a few boxes, and find 6 CD-Rom drives, 5 USB cables, 4 sound cards, 3 hard drives, 2 PSUs , and a partridge in a pair tree ;) There was of course much more, but there's also news to post... Sony VAIO VGN-A260 Laptop Review @ Designtechnica "We have to give Sony credit for designing a system that not only features a 15.4-inch widescreen display with Xbrite technology, but does it all in a chassis that is slimmer than the competition. We are on the fence about whether they should have gone with a desktop processor... Read more...

Earlier today I was shopping on E-Bay for a budget card for my friend... 9500 Pros going for around $70! I don't know, I was going to get my next card(6800 GT) from retail, probably Newegg, but E-Bay is just to good to pass up. Yeah, yeah... scammers all around and Pay-Pal can be a big hassle, but I've had some good experience from E-Bay so I'll take my chances again. Well, I'm going to play some HL2:DM after this, and then hit the sack, so let's get on with the news... Hey folks, sorry for the long time between updates, I've had a little trouble with the news posting feature, but it's all sorted out now :) My wireless router just kicked the bucket, so looks like I've got to go to the store tomorrow and get another one... and I should probably also get to work on my X-Mas shopping(have you?). On with the news... X-Micro WLAN 11g Router and PCMCIA Card @ A True Review "Nowadays, it is not uncommon for a home to have more than one computer; whether it be multiple desktops or a laptop thrown in the mix. With multiple computers comes a need to network them. Network equipment has come along way since the relative low speeds of 10baseT Ethernet. These days network... Read more...
Well folks, it's time for me to do my first all game info news post. Over time, I assure you it will get better... I may possibly add a small graphic banner to distinguish it from the normal news posts, and maybe a few other things. But for now, I'll just post what interesting bits I've found. If you have any suggestions on what you think would make it better, make sure to send me an E-Mail! Square Enix working on 'new brand concept' "Called "Code Age", whatever it is, Square Enix considers it a "new concept brand" and doesn't specify any platforms or specific games, leading to speculation that it will be exploited across multiple forms of media - much as the company's... Good morning folks!  Happy Post Thanksgiving to all our State side friends.  In typical holiday fashion, I managed to eat so much food I still feel full the next morning.  We had one heck of a spread including a 25LB turkey and all the sides you could imagine.  What was more amazing was that for some reason, the turkey didn't make me sleepy at all.  In fact, I was wide awake the whole night, staring at the ceiling wondering if the triptophan would ever kick in.  Sadly, it didn't.  So it's lots of coffee for me this AM followed by a late afternoon nap for sure. I hope the rest of you had a good time with the one's you love, as that is what Thanksgiving is all... Read more...
Oh no, my right ear has been blocked for the past three days... this may be the beginning of an ear infection :( After this post I'm off to Google to search for some sinus pressure remedies. Hey! Did anyone else see the video of that fight at the Pistons/Pacers game? It took security forever to get that thing under control. If anyone knows where I can find the video, send me an E-Mail! Saitek PC Gaming Keyboard Review @ 3DX "In my opinion this Keyboard is the best Keyboard on the market and if you are a gamer the blue backlighting is just the icing on the cake." Good morning friends :)  Well, today is the day; the day in which Half-Life 2 is officially launched.  Myself, I have the Collectors Edition currently installing in the background and personally, I have never be so excited about a game.  After nearly six years of waiting, I am very eager to see how Gordon is going to get out his current mess.  Nonetheless, the news bin is filling up and it is getting late.  Here is your AM shot...  HTPCnews.com Mobo Review: Chaintech VNF3-250 nForce3 250 "For those of you looking for a budget board to run the latest and greatest AMD A64 chips on, we've got one up for review that you very well might be interested in. I just got home and let me tell you... it's hard trying to teach someone, who thinks AOL is the Internet, to actively protect themselves against spyware ;) It's almost as fun as explaining that pop-ups that say "You have a virus, Click Here!!!!1!", might not be telling the truth! Enough of that, it's news time... ATI X800 Pro Video Card Review @ CoolTechZone "NVIDIA is back in the market with full force and ATI is slowly taking the back seat in few of its product lines, namely it's mid-end graphics card lines. We have evaluated NVIDIA's 6800 graphics cards previously and have been quite impressed with the overall performance. This time, however, we have changed tracks and will... Read more...

Anyway, for your nightly news fix, we've a got Home Theater article from eCoustics, Logisys UV Reactive Molex Sleeve Kit from LAN Addict, and as usual... a little more. After this i'm going straight to bed, so goodnight! Home Theater Article @ eCoustics.com "Instructions on getting good bass from a subwoofer in any given room usually begin by suggesting corner placement of the subwoofer. And it's true: placing the subwoofer in a corner will equally energize all the room's resonances and maximize the subwoofer's output. However, one of the more bizarre aspects of how subwoofers couple with the specific dimensions... Read more...

Anyone up for some late night news? For the insomniac in you, we have reviews for products from Thermaltake, MSI, RaidMax, and Altec Lansing. I'd like to chat more, but as my vision becomes a little blurrier, I realize I probably should get some sleep, so good night :) Thermaltake Fanless 103 @ Phoronix "Large heatsinks are quite a hit these days, and the Fanless 103 from Thermaltake is no exception. In fact, it's so big that we just had to nickname it "Big Blue." The largest question we have for Big Blue is: can it in fact take the pressure that other heatsinks with fans can handle, or will it slip into the background to be slowly forgotten like the real Big Blue?" MSI 915P... Read more...
