Android defragmentation continues. Since there are devices out there, even those newly released (such as the Dell Streak) running older versions of Android, Google has started to decouple key pieces of Android from the main OS. One of those was just released today: Gmail. An updated version of Gmail has been released into the Android Market... Read more...
Steve Jobs and the rest of his Cupertino cohorts did two things when they released the iPad under  Apple's unofficial planned obsolescence model -- you know, the one where Apple leaves off obvious features like a USB port, HDMI connectivity, upgradeable storage, and everything else you'd find on even the most thinly spec'd netbook. First,... Read more...
Samsung's Galaxy Tab is undoubtedly the iPad-killer hopeful. There have been dozens of tablets announced since Apple's did so with their iPad early in the year, but few have received as much attention as Samsung's Galaxy Tab. It's possible that the acclaim of the Galaxy S has rolled over the Tab, and now Samsung's relishing the opportunity... Read more...
Big, big news from the Samsung camp this evening. The company's Galaxy Tab, arguably the iPad's most serious competitor (or at least the competitor with the most steam/hype behind it), will soon be launching on all four of the major U.S. carriers. All four! The royal flush of operators happens very infrequently... Read more...

Don't tell Samsung and all the other companies who have Android-based tablets on the docket, but Google isn't exactly sure that Android is designed for use on tablet PCs. In fact, they're certain it's a mismatch. Hugo Barra, Director of Products for Mobile at Google, recently spoke on the issue of seeing Android pop up on so many tablets,... Read more...

We're willing to gamble our in-laws that you've never heard of Huawei before (and if you have, don't pat yourself on the back until you've met our extended families), but there are a few reasons why that might change. First, Huawei is the largest networking and telecommunications hardware supplier in China, and they're also the second largest... Read more...
And that makes four. Samsung's Galaxy S smartphone has now managed to invade all four of the major U.S. carriers, which is a feat that few phones will ever achieve. It goes by different names on different carriers, and a few minor tweaks have been made on each, but it's safe to say that the Verizon Wireless version may have been the most anticipated.... In the U.S., the majority of Android devices have been on the Verizon network, and although there have been plenty on Sprint's CDMA and T-Mobile and AT&T's GSM networks, they've been dwarfed by the swarm of devices on Verizon's network. Yet there's been one thing missing: a dual-mode CDMA/GSM Android device. Now we see there's one... Read more...
Angry Birds has arrived on Android, and we don't mean an Android viewable version of "The Birds," either. Instead, we mean the extremely popular iOS game, which has now landed on Android, as announced by the company on Twitter. The goal of Angry Birds is to shoot, well, Angry Birds with a giant slingshot at the enemy pig houses and destroy... Read more...
