Acer has students and educators in its sights with the introduction of two new Chromebook models, including the Chromebook 11 and Chromebook 11 Spin, and a Chromebox mini PC. All three are primarily aimed at the education segment, a place where Chrome OS and, by extension, Chromebooks have thrived due to their relatively low cost and cloud capabilities. The Chromebook Spin 11 leads the pack. It is a 2-in-1 device that is similar to Google's PixelBook, in that it offers USB-C connectivity by way of two USB 3.1 Type-C ports, and comes with a stylus. Google’s Chrome OS has seen plenty of success in the education market, and it’s easy to see why. Chromebooks running Chrome OS are relatively inexpensive, a web-based management console allows for admins to easily manage/monitor deices, and the built-in keyboard makes them a bit more useful in the classroom than your average tablet. Dell obviously sees the benefits of Chromebooks, especially in the education market, hence its announcement of the new Chromebook 11 that replaces last year’s model. Here's a heads up if you're in the market for Chromebook. Google and HP have put a temporarily hold on sales of the HP Chromebook 11 after a "small number" of users complained about an overheating issue with the stock charger that comes included with the laptop. In a statement on its Google Chrome Blog, the sultan of search said it and HP are working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission on appropriate corrective measures. "In the meantime, customers who have purchased an HP Chromebook 11 should not use the original charger provided with the product.
