The race to build the fastest PCIe 4.0 SSDs for the PC market rages on, with key players like Samsung, TeamGroup, and Corsair pushing the envelope on a seemingly weekly basis. Corsair is the latest to strike with its MP600 PRO XT. The MP600 PRO XT brings attention to itself for a rather beefy (and stealthy) heatsink mounted to the PCB. Corsair says that the reason for this is to more efficiently dissipate heat, which helps to deliver sustained high performance without throttling. However, if you want to go over the top with cooling, Corsair says that the MP600 PRO XT is compatible with its Hydro X Series XM2 Water Block. Going this route will allow you to integrate the SSD with a custom cooling... Read more...
Intel's upcoming Alder Lake launch will usher in the start of the DDR5 era in the consumer space, and then sometime next year, AMD will hop on board with its Zen 4 lineup. This is going to result in higher bandwidth memory products, with transfers (or 'speed' if you prefer to call it that) starting at 6,400MT/s. The added bandwidth could come at a cost, and not just a monetary one, but also paid for in heat. It is hard to know exactly what to expect just yet, because even though some early DDR5 memory kits landed on Amazon a few weeks ago, they have not arrived in earnest. What we do know, however, are the finalized official specifications laid out by JEDEC, and how DDR5 will differ from DDR4... Read more...
It seems like just yesterday when Intel released its 11th generation Rocket Lake-S processors for the desktop market. Built using Intel's [extremely] mature 14nm process node, Rocket Lake-S is the last of its breed and will give way to all-new 12th generation Alder Lake architecture later this year. Alder Lake is built on Intel's latest 10nm Enhanced SuperFin process and uses a hybrid configuration with a combination of high-performance cores coupled with efficiency cores. Next-generation DDR5 memory support will also be along for the ride, and Corsair is here to state that it will be ready to party. Corsair explained that "DDR4 memory has had a great run," but it's time to get the ball rolling... Read more...

It appears that Corsair is trying to up its game in the SSD space soon with a Pro-level successor to the current Corsair MP600 SSD. The Corsair MP600 Pro leaked on Amazon yesterday and boasts a whopping 7,000MB/S (7GB/s) read and 6,850 MB/s (6.85GB/s) write speeds. This sort of performance would put Corsair in the same ballpark as, if not beating out, competitors such as Samsung or Sabrent. Thanks to keen-eyed momomo_us on Twitter, we get to see the Corsair 1TB MP600 Pro on the German Amazon website. According to the listing, the high-performance SSD uses a x4 PCIe 4 NVME M.2 interface, which allows the read and write speeds marketed. Inside, the SSD uses “high-density 3D TLC NAND,”... For some people, Windows 10 can be a bit of a roller coaster. One moment everything is working fine, then the next moment a simple 'chkdsk' command is wreaking havoc, throwing PCs into a blue screen of death (BSOD). Fortunately, Microsoft has issued a hotfix for that specific issue. Unfortunately, there is another issue causing BSODs on some PCs, and it relates to a Corsair driver. Apparently the problematic driver was being doled out through Windows Update. Normally this is not cause for concern—given the myriad hardware combinations out there, it's a miracle Windows 10 runs at all, and Microsoft generally does a good job of keeping systems updated and humming along. Not without exception,... Read more...

PAX East is a show that offers something for just about anyone. The floor is filled with everything from the latest video games to innovative board games. It particularly presents an opportunity for PC manufacturers to show off their wildest gaming rigs and more. We checked in with Origin to see their Big O PC-Console hybrids in person and then stopped by ThermalTake for a master class in custom liquid cooling to complement their new LCGS PC lineup. Origin has been toying with the idea of integrating a gaming console into a PC chassis ever since the original Big O surfaced in 2010. The original concept cohabitated a liquid cooled Xbox 360 with a first-generation Intel Core i7 930 powered PC.... Read more...

The faster PCIe 4.0 slots will be available for the first time as part of the AMD X570 chipset and third-gen AMD Ryzen processors. The M600 SSD uses high-density 3D TLC NAND with a Phision PS5016-E16 controller to enable a new level of single-drive SSD performance. While the sequential... Read more...
Long-time enthusiast will remember the Corsair Hydro H50. It was one of the first closed-loop water coolers on the market and it changed the game. Though the H50 was popular at the time of its release, it was a bit of a head-scratcher, because its performance and installation weren't ideal. Consumers bought it up though, and AIO water coolers were off and running. That was Corsair's first entry into the market, however, and things have gotten considerably better since. It seems as if each new AIO liquid-cooler released by Corsair has improved on their original designs, so much so that closed loop coolers are performing at levels approaching much more expensive custom water cooling loops. In the... Read more...
