What was supposed to be a triumphant close of 2020 for CD Projekt Red (CDPR) is shaping up be a growing nightmare for the developer. Cyberpunk 2077 launched last week to [mostly] critical acclaim on PC platforms, but was derided for its performance, numerous bugs, crashing, and awful visuals on previous generation consoles (namely the Xbox One and PlayStation 4). Given that many gamers are understandably upset about how Cyberpunk 2077 has turned out on these consoles, many are asking for refunds (after CDPR implored them to do so). Microsoft today confirmed that it is obliging those requests. "While we know the developers at CD Projekt Red have worked hard to ship Cyberpunk 2077 in... Read more...
One day after we reported on Sony's refusal offer refunds to gamers that are upset about the bugs and general unpolished nature of Cyberpunk 2077, Sony is reversing its stance. We suggested at the end of our article that Sony should make an exception and allow refunds given how upset PlayStation 4 gamers have been about the game's performance on their consoles. In a tweet posted tonight, Sony Interactive Entertainment addressed the matter head-on. In a statement, the company explained: SIE strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, and we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store and want a refund. Please... Read more...
For the past two weeks the world has been buzzing about Cyberpunk 2077; after all, it is perhaps the most highly anticipated game of the year. While owners of previous generation Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have been highly disappointed in how the game turned out, those running next-gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles along with PC users have fared much better. With this in mind, one rather inventive tinkerer that goes by the name Wendell has managed to get Cyberpunk 2077 on a Raspberry Pi. Now before you start scratching your head wondering how the heck that’s possible, the Raspberry Pi isn't running the game natively. Instead, it's being streamed from a local PC.... Read more...
Cyberpunk 2077 is the talk of the town right now (check out our Cyberpunk 2077 review to see what all the fuss is about), and it is so popular at the moment that it has even drawn a surprise cross promotion with Death Stranding, starring Norman Reedus. There is an update available for Death Stranding that adds Cyberpunk 2077 content, and it's completely free (the update, that is). It is also exclusive to PC (neener-neener boo-boo). It includes half a dozen brand new missions featuring characters and lore from the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, along with some exclusive items, and of course an all-new hacking function. If you are looking to mix things up in Death Stranding, this is how you do it, courtesy... Read more...
The refund situation over regarding Cyberpunk 2077 is starting to get a bit murkier... at least if you bought the PlayStation 4 version of the game. Earlier this week, developer CD Projekt Red (CDPR) addressed the controversy over poor performance, numerous bugs, and horrible graphics on previous generation consoles by telling customers that they could request a refund. "We'd would appreciate it if you would give us a chance, but if you are not pleased with the game on your console and don't want to wait for updates, you can opt to refund your copy," said CDPR in a tweet on Monday. "For copies purchased digitally, please use the refund system of PSN or Xbox respectively."... Read more...
Cyberpunk 2077 has been one of the most hotly-anticipated titles in recent memory. Expectations were so high for this title that it's quite possible that CD Projekt Red could never live up to them. After numerous delays, however, Cyberpunk 2077 launched on December 10 to a mix of high praise and mild disappointment from many reviewers. The game is so massive, however, that we elected to take our time to really soak it in before tackling this review.  For those who are new to the franchise, Cyberpunk 2077 is based on the Cyberpunk tabletop role-playing game franchise. The second and fourth editions of Cyberpunk, known as Cyberpunk 2020 and Cyberpunk Red, are probably the most popular variants... Read more...
There's no question that Cyberpunk 2077 is an incredibly demanding game that can bring even the most well-stacked systems to its knees with the resolution and all graphics settings maxed out. But while gamers on PC (with recommended hardware), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X can at least get decent performance and visuals out the game, those with previous-generation Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles have been subjected to an ugly, bug-filled mess of a game. With this in mind, developer CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has been taking a lot of flak from the gaming community for Cyberpunk 2077 bugs, and how awful is looks on older consoles. Not surprisingly, CDPR co-CEO Adam Kiciński... Read more...
Cyberpunk 2077 is the talk of the town, and nobody should be the least bit surprised—this was, after all, one of the most anticipated games of the year. it was also a long time coming with numerous delays. Unfortunately, bugs still managed to hitch a ride, as they always seem to do (especially on higher profile games). CD Projekt Red will undoubtedly keep the patches coming, but in the short term, users are taking matters into their own hands with performance tweaks of their own. We have seen this already with a HEX edit that, with a simple change of a small piece of code, can compel Cyberpunk 2077 to take advantage of AMD's simultaneous multi-threading (SMT) support on Ryzen processors.... By now you are probably aware that there is a quirk in Cyberpunk 2077 that prevents it from taking full advantage of certain AMD Ryzen CPUs, by not properly leveraging simultaneous multi-threading (SMT) support, for whatever reason. As we wrote about over the weekend, there is a fix involving a simple change made with a simple HEX editor utility. Or you can try out a new mod, which has certain advantages over the HEX editing route. The mod is supposed to address multiple performance issues, including the SMT situation on Ryzen processors, as well as "minor performance fixes." In addition, it will still work when the game is updated by CD Projekt Red. If you use a HEX editor to tweak the Cyberpunk... Read more...
Cyberpunk 2077 may have been one of the most highly anticipated games of 2020 (if not, the most anticipated), but last week's launch was marred by a slew of bugs and performance issues across PC and console platforms. The platforms that were hardest hit, however, were the original Xbox One and PlayStation 4, which don't really have the horsepower to play Cyberpunk 2077 in its full glory. Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has heard your complaints, and is going beyond its original promise to patch the hell out of the game to make it playable and actually enjoyable for the gaming masses. It posted a tweet early this morning indicating that players can now ask... Read more...
When Cyberpunk 2077 launched earlier this week we knew it would not be a lightweight game, simply by looking at the vast number of available graphics settings and impressive visuals. Moreover, with the sheer NPC and texture density of Night City, frame rates are not always the greatest unless you have the most powerful of graphics cards. However, what’s also surprising is that AMD Ryzen CPU owners may not have noticed the extra performance hit they are taking because Cyberpunk 2077 is not correctly utilizing all core resources of their CPU. Fortunately, there is an easy fix, thanks to some reddit sleuths, so let’s optimize Cyberpunk 2077 for Ryzen processors shall we? First,... Read more...
Cyberpunk 2077 has been a blockbuster release in the gaming world, representing the culmination of 8 years of intense development. Developer CD Projekt Red (CDPR) had its hands full during the development process, covering 9 versions of the game across PC, console, and Google Stadia streaming platforms. Needless to say, there were bugs during the game's launch this week... lots of bugs. As a result, CDPR has pushed out Hotfix 1.04 to address many of these lingering problems. One of the biggest "fixes" in this release isn't a bug per se, but will help bring some relief to people prone to epileptic seizures. There were many complaints that the flashing red and white lights during... Read more...
In case you've been living under a rock, CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 launched on Thursday, and the game has been a massive success for the game studio. That should come as no surprise, at least based on Steam's active Cyberpunk players. Those numbers are just the tip of the iceberg, however, as Steam doesn't account for the masses who bought the game direct from CD Projekt, on GOG, or picked up Cyberpunk on the last-generation PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.  However, reviews have been kind of mixed and the game has experienced some hilarious, game-breaking bugs that sap the immersive feeling of Night City and on occasion completely halt progress in certain missions. The game has garnered... Read more...
CD Projekt Red's latest mega-blockbuster game, Cyberpunk 2077, launched this week on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The developer announced its oft-delayed RPG way back in 2012, but anticipation has been running particularly hot for the several months now. We got our hands on the game right as the gates opened at midnight GMT on the today, but that's not enough time to work up a full review with all of our usual performance figures. So today we'll take a quick look at how the game runs and how its game world feels, on a narrow scope, but our full deep dive review will be coming soon.  Unfortunately, Cyberpunk's launch hasn't been without its trials. On the PC, DirectX ray tracing... Read more...
Cyberpunk 2077 is officially out around the globe, and while it has its fair share of bugs, it is a pretty enjoyable game. There are many missions, side quests, and random events to handle while you navigate your way through Night City. It seems that many other people are enjoying CD Projekt Red’s game, too, as it peaked on Steam’s charts at over 1 million concurrent players earlier today. It still resides at the top of the list, too, with more players than the bottom eight games combined. Cyberpunk 2077 is a gorgeous looking single-player game, especially if you can get away with ray tracing without burning your PC out. It has a vast and varied world that takes you from the dark... We know a few things about next-gen game consoles and graphics cards. Like, the PlayStation 5 is fire (in a good way). So is the Xbox Series X, and the same can be said of AMD's Radeon RX 6000 series and NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 30 series. All good hardware for playing Cyberpunk 2077. You know what might not be good hardware for the game? Last-gen consoles. At long last, Cyberpunk 2077 is out, bringing with it all of its graphical glory and advanced effects, like real-time ray tracing. On the right hardware, it is a visual splendor. But on older hardware—the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One—let's just say the graphics take a hit. To highlight this, users have been uploading videos and images... Read more...
CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is nearly here, and Google is gearing up in a big way for the game's launch. As were reported back in October, Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on Google’s Stadia game streaming service on Day 1 alongside PC and console offerings. However, with Stadia, you'll be able to play the game across a wide spectrum of platforms including on your TV with a Chromecast and a wireless controller or with your mobile device. In preparation for the December 10th launch of Cyberpunk 2077, Google just announced that Stadia is expanding to 8 additional European countries starting today. Potential subscribers in these new markets -- Austria, Czechia,... Read more...
Have we all gone a little stir crazy yet? It comes with the territory of a pandemic, but if you are looking to turn lemons into an excuse to spend more time playing games (you thought I was going to say lemonade, didn't you?), then check out these deals on some big name titles that are on sale. Among them is Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projeckt Red. Granted, we are not talking about a massive discount here, but you can save $10 and change on one of the most highly anticipated games of the year. It is marked down to $49.94 at Amazon (17% Off), for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One... We are only days away from the launch of CD Projekt Red’s blockbuster game this year, Cyberpunk 2077. For many, it will be launching on December 10th, but for a select few, it will be launching on December 9th for PC and Google Stadia players. Are you ready to enter Night City? In a tweet posted yesterday, the team behind Cyberpunk 2077 shared when exactly people would get access to the much-anticipated game. If users are on PC or Google’s Stadia, they will get access on December 10th at 12 AM GMT. In that same tweet, CD Projekt Red did the legwork of converting the times around the world. For example, the U.S. east coast will be able to play on December 9th at 7 PM EST. If you are... Read more...
The developer behind Cyberpunk 2077, one of the most highly anticipated games of the year, is not keen on people streaming and spoiling the game's content before its official release date. So much so, in fact, that CD Projekt Red issued a warning on Twitter, saying it is going to send armed, tactical Max-Tac (or Psycho Squad) agents "after everyone who does." Not really, of course—those who defy CD Projekt Red and stream the game before it actually launches will not actually have a Max-Tac operative storm through their doors with riot gear and the whole nine. Max-Tac is a fictional sub-group of major police forces in the game, and not a real-life entity that bothers itself with spoilers.... Read more...
Though Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed a few times now, we are inching closer to what should be the real launch date, December 10th. Up until now, the hype surrounding the CD Projekt Red (CDPR) game has been building, especially with giveaways and Cyberpunk-themed technology. We saw things such as a Cyberpunk 2077 OnePlus 8T and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti decked out in Cyberpunk yellow. Since then, a new GPU lineup has launched from NVIDIA, and CDPR has another giveaway up its sleeve, except this one is for China-only right now. The upcoming action-RPG game set in Night City is a beautiful looking game that will demand some decent hardware at the high end. CDPR recently updated its recommended... Read more...
The somewhat fractured nature of the real time ray tracing on the PC is coming to a head with the upcoming release of Cyberpunk 2077. We've known for quite some time that CD Projekt Red would support ray tracing effects in Cyberpunk 2077, and the company has been working closely with NVIDIA to enable support on GeForce RTX 20/30 Series hardware. However, we're getting the somewhat disappointing news this weekend that Cyberpunk 2077 ray tracing support will be exclusive to GeForce RTX cards at launch. Some might be a bit confused considering that Cyberpunk 2077 isn't using some propriety NVIDIA implementation of RTX ray tracing. Instead, the developer is using the industry standard DirectX...
