Foxconn has been making the news more often than not regarding labor practices, but the company also makes a range of PCs with its own brand on it. Here's the Foxconn NanoPC, a nettop that'll ship in two different versions. The AT-5250 and AT-5600 are based on the Intel Atom and AMD Brazos platforms, respectively, and neither consumes over 24 watts under load. Furthermore, they're "silent" due to the passive cooling setup. These are obviously aimed at carputer, industrial and even HTPC use, where power load is crucial and the noise factor is a big deal, too. They'll support 1.8" and 2.5" storage drives, and each one is equipped with two USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI,... Read more...

The machine will ship with Intel's latest Cedar Trail processors, as well as up to 4GB of memory and a 500GB HDD. And did we mention the 32GB SSD that it's paired with? Yep, there's some NAND love, too. As for ports, you'll find HDMI, VGA, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a mic port, four USB 2.0 connectors and a basic card reader. Pricing is expected... Read more...

Rumor has it that we'll see the first chips based on AMD's upcoming Trinity APU before too long, but the company isn't done with Llano quite yet. There's a fresh set of desktop and notebook chips based on the first-generation APU, though most of the changes are fairly minor. The big news in desktops is the introduction of new K-series parts that feature unlocked CPUs and GPUs for simultaneous and separate overclocking. We're unsure how much traction these parts are likely to gain, given that overclocking a mobile GPU isn't going to provide much of a performance boost. The new 3870K is a 3GHz CPU with a 100W TDP, no Turbo Core, and a 600MHz GPU. The new chip is a small step forward compared to... Read more...
