The Epic Games fight against anticompetitive Apple and Google is still alive and kicking, as Epic now filed a new complaint against Google. The update adds some redacted details about Google’s allegedly anticompetitive behavior and how Epic Games believes that Google is massaging its own statements to conceal “the full scope of Google’s anticompetitive conduct.” Of course, the filing from Epic Games opens strongly, stating that Google’s former motto of “Don’t Be Evil” is just an afterthought, and the company is “using its size to do evil upon competitors, innovators, customers, and users in a slew of markets it has grown to monopolize.”... The recently introduced Ferrari 296 GTB is a plug-in Italian hell raiser that will likely set prospective buyers back somewhere north of $300,000. That means my chances of ever owning one are next to zero. If you're in the same boat, fret not—you can at least virtually experience 819 horses pulling the sexy red wagon in Fortnite, where the Ferrari 296 GTB has cruised onto the scene as the game's first licensed vehicle. Sure, plenty of other vehicles have found their way to Fortnite, including taxis, pickup trucks, and even grocery carts. But none up to this point have been real-life, licensed vehicles. That changes right now, with the Ferrari 296 GTB having just been unlocked, provided... Read more...
Fornite was already weird before Chapter 2, Season 7 came along, focusing on an alien invasion of the island. Now, things are going one step further with the introduction of the Inflate-A-Bull, a bizarre object that lets players roll, bounce, and withstand fire while looking like a cow, alongside cow-themed quests. What exactly is going on here? The Inflate-A-Bull is a new inflatable cow suit that bestows users with “cow-like properties,” including being able to roll downhill, jump (or fall) off cliffs without damage, and withstand fire. While the suit could be popped by other players when shot, it could be an over-powered tool in the right circumstances. However, we are unsure what... Read more...
The aliens have invaded Fortnite, and it seems that they have started to abduct people from around the island. One of the Legendary challenges or “Quests” for Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7 Week 4 is to put up four missing person signs across eight spots in Weeping Woods and Misty Meadows. Completing this task will net you a cool 30,000 XP for your Battle Pass, and we will show you where to go. If you want to start placing missing person signs, there are a few quests ahead of it, but after that, it is as easy as walking up to the designated locations. Then, you need to interact with the spectral signs that indicate where the real ones go. You can follow where to go in the map below:... Read more...
All the way from Asgard, the God of Mischief Loki Laufeyson is joining the Fortnite crew this July in a mashup of the former Marvel season and the current alien-themed season. Starting on June 30th, Fortnite Crew members will be able to grab some Loki-themed gear to wear around the map and cause mayhem with. Aliens have fully invaded Fortnite this season, and players are battling parasites while also trying to communicate with the invaders. This is a lot to take in, so let us take a look at how to take on a parasite and gain some XP for setting up communications with the creatures from outer space… Parasites, The Good Kind? Typically, parasites are a bad thing, but in the case of Fortnite, it appears to be a symbiotic relationship if our biology classes taught us anything. The leech-like alien parasites in the game attach themselves to any living organism in the area, including chickens, boars, wolves, or other players. If the host organism is killed or you stumble upon a green egg that hatches... Read more...
We have a high opinion of Control, the game developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by 505 Games in 2019. When we explored the title, we called Control a visually stunning ray-traced gem of a game, noting that Remedy did a masterful job of creating an engrossing world that looks outstanding. If you still haven't played it, now is your chance to add it to your games catalog without spending a dime. No, we're not talking about visiting a sketchy download site or a five fingered discount at GameStop (good luck finding a boxed copy, anyway). Instead, Control is the latest free game at the Epic Games Store. All you have to do is sign into your Epic account (or create one if you don't have... Read more...
Loot Llamas are a great way to load up on supplies during a Fortnite match. However, they will now run away if you get too close to them instead of remaining motionless as of the latest season. Here is what you need to know about the updated Fortnite Loot Llamas. Loot Llamas will not only flee from players, but are even capable of swimming and teleportation. Players will have thirty seconds to defeat the Loot Llamas before they phase out with a golden glow. Dataminers have discovered that up to five Loot Llamas will spawn during a single match. It is unclear at the moment if they spawn in specific locations or if they will continue to spawn randomly as they have done in previous seasons. ... Read more...

The trailer is now out there, and the store page is now live, so let's look at all we know about Battlefield 2042... The World-Changing Years Leading Up To 2042 In the years leading up to 2042, humans faced several world-changing events like super-storms, depressions, food and fuel shortages, and countries collapsing. These people, called the Non-Patriated or No-Pats, band together and become a staple... Read more...

Using new characters, weapons, and sheer elbow grease, players can help save the Fortnite island from the alien invaders. The new chapter kicked off with an alien army coming to Fortnite with an "explosive opening attack," as Epic Games explained it. As computer components get better, so too do the visuals in games like Fortnite. When the new consoles from both Microsoft and Sony came out late last year, Epic Games introduced new visual effects and features to improve the player experience. Now, those upgraded visuals are finally making their way to PC on June 8th with the Fortnite v17.0.0 update. Beginning with Chapter 2, Season 7, players on the Epic quality preset will notice "improved Storm and cloud effects, as well as enhanced simulations for smoke and liquid." Moreover, these players will also see improvements in post-processing and lens flare effects. All of this should culminate in better overall graphics in-game and a better experience,... Read more...
There have been aliens in Fortnite in the past, such as the Xenomorph’s arrival this past February. Now, more aliens may be coming to inhabit Fortnite after leaving mysterious crop circles on the map. Find out where you can find these circles and what they mean below… If you decide to go on the hunt for these crop circles, you will find them at Colossal Crops, where something interesting has happened. The cornfield at the center of the farm has been stripped bare, and in its place is a strange-looking crop circle with some loot, which you can see up above. The crop circles have some unusual runic symbols that do not have any apparent meaning yet. At present, no players have reported... Read more...
For both gamers and developers, the Unreal Engine team's work, such as the MetaHuman creator, is simply amazing. Now, Unreal Engine 5 is just over the horizon, and it appears to mark a massive milestone in game fidelity and performance. There is a new demo out today, with some new features, such as something awesome called "Temporal Super Resolution." Temporal Super Resolution (TSR) is quite a mouthful of a name, but it quite impressive, according to the latest Unreal Engine docs. The team at Epic Games claims that with TSR enabled, you can get 4K quality with the framerates one would typically see at 1080p. In the example shown, the team rendered 4K frames at native 4K, which netted 18.6FPS,... Read more...
There could be fireworks today, or it could end up being a boring round in the latest bout pitting Epic Games versus Apple. Either way, Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to take the stand today and field questions from lawyers in the high profile lawsuit Epic Games filed against Apple over the company's App Store policies, and specifically the 15-30 percent commission it takes. This is a big case, and it could have widespread repercussions, not just for Apple but for any company that operates an app store and collects a royalty (like Google and its Play Store). The brouhaha began when Epic Games suddenly decided to side-step Apple's commission on in-app purchases by updating Fortnite on iOS. The... Read more...
The antitrust trial between Apple and Epic Games continues today, and Apple is stepping up its defense of iOS, even if it means knocking some of its other products. Last week, the company made an interestingly timed announcement about how the App Store prevented $1.5 billion in fraud through 2020. Now Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior VP of software engineering, has been brought to the stand to defend the iOS ecosystem’s practices…by throwing macOS under the bus? As a quick refresher, back in August of 2020, Apple kicked Fortnite and subsequently Epic Games out of the App Store for some admittedly deceptive practices. In short, Epic changed Fortnite by adding its own payment... Read more...
While the Epic Games trial rages on in the background, it seems Apple may be trying to deflect blame or guilt. Yesterday, the Cupertino-based company announced that the App Store stopped “more than $1.5 billion in potentially fraudulent transactions in 2020.” Perhaps this is just a coincidence, or it is a good way to make Apple look high and mighty. The Apple blog post opens with the claim that the company “helps keep the App Store a safe and trusted place for users to discover apps by detecting and taking action against fraudulent developers and users.” This action purportedly takes quite a bit of legwork behind the scenes, but they managed to protect customers from more... The antitrust trial pitting Epic Games versus Apple got off to an explosive start, with lawyers for each company issuing passionate opening remarks on why they think their clients should prevail. As part of her opening statement, Apple lawyer Karen Dunn accused Epic Games of wanting Apple to be like Android, which is something Tim Cook and the gang have no interest in becoming. "Epic wants us to be Android, but we don't want to be. And our consumers don't want that either. They want the choice," Dunn said, according to CNBC. The statement was in reference to being able to install apps from outside Google's Play Store onto Android devices, a practice known as side-loading. This is not something... Read more...
The ongoing court case between Epic Games and Apple has been revelatory. Epic Games has revealed that it has intentionally not added Fortnite to Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud). It also does not appear that Epic Games intends to add Fortnite to the service in the future. A deposition was recently made public ahead of the May 3rd trial date. Joe Kreiner, Epic’s vice president of business development, was asked why Fortnite was not available through xCloud. Kreiner responded, “We viewed Microsoft’s efforts with xCloud to be competitive with our PC offerings.” The remainder of his explanation has been redacted. Epic Games is primarily fighting Apple’s resistance... Read more...
