Fortnite is known for some silly weapons, such as a snowball gun or a grenade that makes players dance. It seems the developers at Epic Games are up to no good again, with recent leaks showing off two new guns. Fortnite leaker @ximton on Twitter showed off videos of what looks like a minigun with explosive ammo and a rocket launcher that launches explosive trolls. What exactly is Epic Games doing with these crazy weapons? Troll Launcher The first weapon we got a glimpse of was the troll launcher. It looks like it fired four rockets after every reload, but other than that, we do not know much. @ximton explains that it “launches explosive trolls,” but Epic may have scrapped the weapon.... Though Epic Games is giving away games for Christmas, not everything that seems free truly is. Either by lousy design, stealthy data collection, or a combination of the two, the Epic Games Launcher appears to be continuously running some sort of relatively demanding process in the background. This issue is so pronounced that a Reddit user by the name Neoncarbon noticed that his AMD Ryzen 7 5800X idle temps dropped from 50C to 37C when he closed down the app. We actually proved this out for ourselves as well, as you'll see in the screen shots below. What's odd is that other game store apps, like GOG and Steam, do not show this behavior at all. What exactly could Epic Games Launcher be doing in... Read more...
I now know two weird things about tomatoes: they are technically fruits, and there are two Fortnite challenges about tomatoes this week. Since the launch of Fortnite Season 5, new challenges to grab Battlepass XP have been dropping every week. In week 4, players can collect baskets of tomatoes and dance around an on-fire tomato effigy/cauldron to get their XP. As bizarre as it is, we can show you where to go for these challenges and a nifty tool to guide you through all future challenges. Tomato Baskets This is the least odd challenge this week, which isn’t saying much. In any case, there are three locations northeast of the coliseum where players can grab a basket of tomatoes for 20k Battlepass... Read more...
Though the Marvel Fortnite season has come and gone, it does not mean we cannot still enjoy some Marvel-themed content. Starting today, Fortnite players can “celebrate the legacy of Wakanda’s King with the Wakandan Salute Emote,” which will be free to all who complete the “Wakanda Forever Challenges.” Epic Games has also teased the possibility of a Black Panther skin being announced on a livestream later today at 6:45ET, but we will have to wait and see what happens. Since Marvel’s Black Panther movie and the passing of actor Chadwick Boseman, players have been requesting skins, emotes, and other ways of commemorating the Wakandan king. Now, it seems players... Sing it with me now—On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me, a gift card to an online games store and it was awesome! And of course, some leaks and information have started to crop up already, so let’s dive into what we know so far about Winterfest 2020. Our first big leak comes from Twitter users @HYPEX and @Mang0e, who found a Christmas teaser trailer via a Russian Fortnite streamer. It shows the possibility of planes returning to the game and brand-new skins. Even though the quality isn’t the best, in the background is what looks like a candy cane cowboy or... Read more...
Early in December, Fortnite Season 5 began, and Epic Games got to bring the Mandalorian to the Fortnite Island in hopes of securing the “zero point.” As the season progresses, more hunters are needed to help save the universe. Last night at the Game Awards, Donald Mustard from Epic Games unveiled the next couple of characters joining the hunter squad in the popular battle royale game. Master Chief The next character from a different reality to come to the Fortnite island is the famed Master Chief from the Halo series. As Epic Games describes, “Hunter of the Covenant and destroyer of the Sacred Rings, few are more qualified to take on the Island’s bounties and the existential... Read more...

Fortnite has some big changes rumored to be in the works, and leaker Lucas7yoshi believes “modding” coming to Epic Games' battle royale game. In a series of tweets, the leaker claimed with absolute certainty that modding is on the way. He also delved into what this could look like in Fortnite, which you can see below. Obviously, people should take rumors and leaks with a gain of salt, but modding could be an exciting change for Fortnite. It could bring custom skins, tools, weapons, or vehicles to the game, depending on its implementation. In any case, Lucas7yoshi claims that modding is “100% in the works,” according to his tweets. Confidence for this is its 100% in... Read more...
Today, Apple got “into the holiday spirit” by dropping its royalty rate from 30% to 15% for developers who earned less than $1 million in the last year. Epic Games and Spotify, who both reside in the Coalition for App Fairness, were quick to call out this move. They essentially claimed it as a way for Apple to divide the developer community so Apple can come out on top of the issues they face. Epic Games has not been a fan of Apple, especially since the Fortnite ordeal began in August. With the move to give indie developers a Apple tax break of 15%, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney claimed in a statement reported by CNBC that “This would be something to celebrate were it not a calculated... Fortnite remains one of the most popular games around, and is a veritable golden goose for developer Epic Games, despite being free-to-play (there is big money earned through in-game purchases). Perhaps in an attempt to ensure it stays that way, Epic Games has just added a new and intriguing feature to Fornite, that being in-game video chat. The new feature comes courtesy of a partnership with Houseparty, a free social networking app that recently enjoyed a rise in popularity. Apps and services like Houseparty are seeing increased usage in large part because of COVID-19 and continued calls to social distance from one another, and work and play from home. The latest Fortnite update integrates... Read more...

Anyone who makes a purchase in Fortnite can get 2 months of Disney+ to enjoy the whole library of Marvel movies. The deal officially starts on November 10th, but Epic Games has you covered from yesterday onward. Back in August, Fortnite initially teased the Marvel-themed season of gameplay which has since launched with new skins and events. It does not appear as though Epic Games and Apple are close to kissing and making up, which means Fortnite remains a no-show in the App Store. However, that does not necessarily mean there is no way to play it on an iPhone or iPad device. Fortnite could be making a semi-triumphant return to iOS devices, and without Epic Games conceding its dispute with Apple. And NVIDIA would be the one to thank. Say what, now? NVIDIA does not have a dog in this fight, but it does have a cloud gaming service. I am of course talking about GeForce NOW. The streaming service has been expanding its catalog of games, and also extending its reach, having added support for Chrome OS devices (Chromebooks, mostly) this... Read more...

Epic Games’ creation is not likely to go away anytime soon, as Fortnite leaker FireMonkey received some exciting information. According to an anonymous source, the creative director said that the next major Fortnite event will “change the future of Fortnite.” Over the last few months, Geoff Keighley has been hosting Zoom meetings with Game Awards guests and fans. Recently, Donald Mustard, creative director for Epic Games, was invited to one of these Zoom calls for a chat. In this meeting, @iFireMonkey on Twitter reported that the next... Read more...
The Epic Games versus Apple saga is continuing as the Fortnite creator filed another case against Apple on October 24th. Epic Games says that “Apple has no right to the fruits of Epic’s labor,” further claiming that “Apple’s contractual restrictions are anti-competitive.” Epic's filing is just one more on top of many in the back-and-forth war, which will end with a trial by judge. In yesterday’s filing, Epic Games stated that Apple had no rights to Epic’s Fortnite goodies, “other than the rights arising under a contract.” This seems somewhat off, as Epic Games did sign a contract with Apple agreeing to those contractual terms. Epic... Read more...
