Unlike the Switch + Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle that launched for Black Friday, this one is actually in stock (for now). But whereas the Black Friday bundle got you a free digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and 3 months of Nintendo Switch Online for the regular $299 price, this new Fortnite bundle is decidedly less ambitious. Nintendo Switch Fortnite Wildcat Bundle $299 @ Amazon Nintendo... Read more...
Fortnite has some big changes rumored to be in the works, and leaker Lucas7yoshi believes “modding” coming to Epic Games' battle royale game. In a series of tweets, the leaker claimed with absolute certainty that modding is on the way. He also delved into what this could look like in Fortnite, which you can see below. Obviously, people should take rumors and leaks with a gain of salt, but modding could be an exciting change for Fortnite. It could bring custom skins, tools, weapons, or vehicles to the game, depending on its implementation. In any case, Lucas7yoshi claims that modding is “100% in the works,” according to his tweets. Confidence for this is its 100% in... Read more...
Today, Apple got “into the holiday spirit” by dropping its royalty rate from 30% to 15% for developers who earned less than $1 million in the last year. Epic Games and Spotify, who both reside in the Coalition for App Fairness, were quick to call out this move. They essentially claimed it as a way for Apple to divide the developer community so Apple can come out on top of the issues they face. Epic Games has not been a fan of Apple, especially since the Fortnite ordeal began in August. With the move to give indie developers a Apple tax break of 15%, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney claimed in a statement reported by CNBC that “This would be something to celebrate were it not a calculated... Fortnite remains one of the most popular games around, and is a veritable golden goose for developer Epic Games, despite being free-to-play (there is big money earned through in-game purchases). Perhaps in an attempt to ensure it stays that way, Epic Games has just added a new and intriguing feature to Fornite, that being in-game video chat. The new feature comes courtesy of a partnership with Houseparty, a free social networking app that recently enjoyed a rise in popularity. Apps and services like Houseparty are seeing increased usage in large part because of COVID-19 and continued calls to social distance from one another, and work and play from home. The latest Fortnite update integrates... Read more...
Epic Games has been in the news for a whole host of reasons, from its lawsuit and struggles with Apple, to Fortnite’s latest season of gameplay. The company is once again making headlines as it is offering something up to fans of the Marvel-themed Fortnite season. Anyone who makes a purchase in Fortnite can get 2 months of Disney+ to enjoy the whole library of Marvel movies. The deal officially starts on November 10th, but Epic Games has you covered from yesterday onward. Back in August, Fortnite initially teased the Marvel-themed season of gameplay which has since launched with new skins and events. There is more to come until the season ends on November 30th, such as the cool Ghost Rider... Read more...
It does not appear as though Epic Games and Apple are close to kissing and making up, which means Fortnite remains a no-show in the App Store. However, that does not necessarily mean there is no way to play it on an iPhone or iPad device. Fortnite could be making a semi-triumphant return to iOS devices, and without Epic Games conceding its dispute with Apple. And NVIDIA would be the one to thank. Say what, now? NVIDIA does not have a dog in this fight, but it does have a cloud gaming service. I am of course talking about GeForce NOW. The streaming service has been expanding its catalog of games, and also extending its reach, having added support for Chrome OS devices (Chromebooks, mostly) this... Read more...

Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR shared a preview and some information about the skins on Twitter. The on-fire cosmetics include a glider skin, a pickaxe skin, weapon and vehicle skins, and some other things you can see below. Fortnite has been making headlines over the past several months, thanks to the legal battles, special events, and partnerships like with AMD. Epic Games’ creation is not likely to go away anytime soon, as Fortnite leaker FireMonkey received some exciting information. According to an anonymous source, the creative director said that the next major Fortnite event will “change the future of Fortnite.” Over the last few months, Geoff Keighley has been hosting Zoom meetings with Game Awards guests and fans. Recently, Donald Mustard, creative director for Epic Games, was invited to one of these Zoom calls for a chat. In this meeting, @iFireMonkey on Twitter reported that the next... Read more...
The Epic Games versus Apple saga is continuing as the Fortnite creator filed another case against Apple on October 24th. Epic Games says that “Apple has no right to the fruits of Epic’s labor,” further claiming that “Apple’s contractual restrictions are anti-competitive.” Epic's filing is just one more on top of many in the back-and-forth war, which will end with a trial by judge. In yesterday’s filing, Epic Games stated that Apple had no rights to Epic’s Fortnite goodies, “other than the rights arising under a contract.” This seems somewhat off, as Epic Games did sign a contract with Apple agreeing to those contractual terms. Epic... Read more...
The current pandemic will almost definitely put a damper on trick-or-treating this year, but there are other ways of getting into the Halloween spirit, all while remaining safely isolated in your home. I'm talking about themed events in popular games. As I wrote about yesterday, Rocket League is enjoying a Ghostbusters crossover with its Haunted Hallows event, and starting today, Fortnite is having a spooktacular time of its own, by bringing back its cleverly named Fortnitemares event. "From October 21 until November 3, rise to the occasion in the return of Fortnitemares. In Fortnitemares 2020: Midas’ Revenge, don’t let the tomb hold you back from haunting the living. And while you’re... Read more...
In life, sports, and the court of law, you win some and you lose some. Case in point (literally). Epic Games has, for the time being, lost its legal battle with Apple, in which the developer sought a preliminary injunction that would prevent the Cupertino company from continuing to ban Fortnite from the App Store, in its current state that sidesteps royalty payments from in-game purchases. However, Unreal Engine can remain. It is more of an Epic loss than an Epic win, so to speak, because Fortnite is the bigger play and the cause for this legal showdown between Epic Games and Apple. It started when Epic Games suddenly decided it was tired of paying Apple a 30 percent royalty for in-game purchases,... Read more...
Epic Games and Apple will be facing off in court a little earlier than expected. The trial date for Epic Games vs. Apple is now set for May 3rd, 2021, at 8:30am PT as to avoid conflicts with a backlog of other trials. In the meantime, there are other pretrial due dates for both companies to submit information.  The Epic Games debacle with Apple has been dragging on for a while; it seems. In August, Apple kicked Fortnite out of the App Store for violating its long-standing policies, sparking the current situation. This escalated into the lawsuit described, and the court is finally setting up schedules. From March through April 2021, hearings and submissions will occur in preparation for the... Read more...
Liar, liar, pants on fire! That pretty much sums up what a judge accused Epic of doing in its highly publicized and costly dispute with Apple over the royalty rate it collects for apps sold in its App Store, as well as in-game purchases. The judge told Epic that even though some people might consider the team a bunch of "heroes" for taking on Apple, its claims against the company are "not honest." "You did something, you lied about it by omission, by not being forthcoming. That's the security issue. That's the security issue!," Judge Gonzales Rogers told Epic during a court broadcast that was livestreamed on Zoom, according to CNN. "There are a lot of people in the public who consider you guys... Read more...
Google has announced that it is making changes in the next major release of Android that is probably music to Epic Games’ ears. As you recall, over the summer, Epic got into a heated battle with Apple and Google over the cut that each developer took out its revenue stream from the App Store and the Play Store respectively citing anticompetitive behavior.  After Fortnite was kicked out of both app stores for using its own payment scheme (which is forbidden), Epic returned fire with lawsuits against Apple and Google. While Apple users are out of luck installing Fortnite on their devices going forward, Android users actually have alternative methods of installing the game without Google... Read more...
As the rivalry between Apple and Epic Games continues, more effects are starting to be seen. Epic Games this week reported that they would be ending support for and refunding purchases of Fortnite: Save the World on macOS. According to Epic Games, Apple is preventing them from providing updates to games on Mac. Epic’s “upcoming v14.20 release will cause bugs for players on v13.40, resulting in a very poor experience” which led them to make the game unplayable after September 23rd. This does not come as a surprise, however, as it falls in line with iOS ban of Epic Games following the lawsuits against Apple. What does come as a surprise, though, it how Epic is handling the disabling... Read more...
