In June, some mysterious crop circles appeared in Fortnite, potentially alluding to the now released Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7. Now, aliens have arrived and are attacking the island vigorously, but you can take them on. Using new characters, weapons, and sheer elbow grease, players can help save the Fortnite island from the alien invaders. The new chapter kicked off with an alien army coming to Fortnite with an "explosive opening attack," as Epic Games explained it. These alien invaders threaten the island, but Fortnite players are not ones to roll over and accept their fate. Under the command of Doctor Slone, the Imagined Order (IO) has decided to fight back against the invaders... Read more...

While leaks are still rolling out, Battlefield is also running a new marketing campaign that has players worldwide quite excited. While we wait for June 9th to roll around, take a look at what has happened so far below... Leaks And Rumors Galore Over the weekend, users have been dropping rumors and potential leaks within prolific leaker Tom Henderson’s Discord server. The top item in this list is the potential for the new game... Read more...
As computer components get better, so too do the visuals in games like Fortnite. When the new consoles from both Microsoft and Sony came out late last year, Epic Games introduced new visual effects and features to improve the player experience. Now, those upgraded visuals are finally making their way to PC on June 8th with the Fortnite v17.0.0 update. Beginning with Chapter 2, Season 7, players on the Epic quality preset will notice "improved Storm and cloud effects, as well as enhanced simulations for smoke and liquid." Moreover, these players will also see improvements in post-processing and lens flare effects. All of this should culminate in better overall graphics in-game and a better experience,... Read more...
We are on the cusp of a new Battlefield announcement after months of leaks, rumors, and misinformation running amok. This weekend, Battlefield has also been trying to get hype up surrounding the game, which gives us insight into what is to come. On Friday, several different content creators were messaged by the Battlefield team about an incoming message. People like Lirik or JacksFrags were sent this “transmission” with some words blurred out in each message; however, they all have different words removed. When putting the messages together, a whole transmission could be assembled and read, which you can see below. Battlefield just DM'd me this... 🤔 pic.twitter.com/fKh41Ya71M —... Read more...
In just a few weeks, AMD will flip the switch on its highly anticipated FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) upscaling technology, and we will find out if the real-world results match the company's claims and what it showed off during Computex 2021. It's not just headed to PC, either. At some point, Microsoft will enable FSR on its Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S game consoles, the company confirmed. What's at play here is a "spatial upscaling technique" that is used to create a "super resolution" image from game engine input frames. Similar to NVIDIA's proprietary Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology, the idea is to render images at a lower resolution and then upscale them, to improve... Read more...
We imagine this is the time of the year that Amazon really bolsters its Prime membership numbers, with people signing up in anticipation of its annual Prime Day event. To that end, Amazon Prime Day 2021 is right around the corner (it takes place June 21-22). Ahead the event, however, Amazon is serving up another treat for Prime members—a free copy of Battlefield 4 for PC. Claiming your copy is rather easy. Just head over to Amazon's Battlefield 4 promotion page, click the Claim Now button, and then grab (copy) the key and redeem it on your Origin account. You will be prompted to sign into your Amazon Prime account when you attempt to do this, if you are not already. And if you are not a... Read more...
During their Computex 2021 keynote, NVIDIA’s Jeff Fisher, GeForce Senior Vice President, and Manuvir Das, Head of Enterprise Computing, unveiled a number of new enterprise and consumer products, targeting multiple market segments. For all of the gamers though, it was Jeff Fisher’s official unveiling of the oft-rumored GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti cards that most likely got your juices flowing. The new GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is the spiritual successor to the previous-gen flagship RTX 2080 Ti, while the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti builds upon the popular RTX 3070 with much faster memory and some goosed specifications that should boost performance quite a bit. We’re about a week away... Read more...
There have been aliens in Fortnite in the past, such as the Xenomorph’s arrival this past February. Now, more aliens may be coming to inhabit Fortnite after leaving mysterious crop circles on the map. Find out where you can find these circles and what they mean below… If you decide to go on the hunt for these crop circles, you will find them at Colossal Crops, where something interesting has happened. The cornfield at the center of the farm has been stripped bare, and in its place is a strange-looking crop circle with some loot, which you can see up above. The crop circles have some unusual runic symbols that do not have any apparent meaning yet. At present, no players have reported... Read more...
The next installment in the Far Cry series is just over the horizon, launching on October 7th this year. Starring Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian powerhouse actor Giancarlo Esposito as the main antagonist, Far Cry 6 should be quite the game, especially if recently published videos and images are anything to go by. Yesterday, Ubisoft producer and host Youssef Maguid posted the “Rules For Being A Guerilla,” giving us a glimpse into the upcoming Far Cry 6. In Far Cry 6, players will take the role of Dani Rojas, a “native Yaran and military dropout desperately trying to flee their home country.” However, Yara’s oppressive dictator, Antón Castillo (played... For some time, the International Olympic Committee has been considering adding esports games to its portfolio of games played during the Olympics. Now, esports has finally made it as the first-ever qualifier for the “Olympic Virtual Series Motor Sport Event” is complete, and 16 players will be virtually racing on Olympic Day, June 23rd. In April, the Olympic Virtual Series is a new endeavor from the IOC in partnership with “five international sports federations and corresponding games publishers to create virtual events in Baseball, Cycling, Rowing, Sailing, and Motor Sport.” The motorsport portion of the virtual events series is run by the Fédération Internationale... Over the past few weeks, we have been drip-fed Battlefield leaks, including videos, images, and audio around the web. Now, a Battlefield 6 video has leaked onto the unofficial Battlefield subreddit, confirming everything we have seen so far. However, is this the real McCoy or is this video something else? The video, which was streamed on Discord and you can see here (with an epilepsy warning), shows several scenes which we have seen in previous leaks. This includes the initial helicopter approaching a rocket and the failed rocket launch before collapsing on a building, among other recognizable snippets. Of course, this trailer also has the obnoxious LOL guy watermark, but that may be for a good... Read more...
For both gamers and developers, the Unreal Engine team's work, such as the MetaHuman creator, is simply amazing. Now, Unreal Engine 5 is just over the horizon, and it appears to mark a massive milestone in game fidelity and performance. There is a new demo out today, with some new features, such as something awesome called "Temporal Super Resolution." Temporal Super Resolution (TSR) is quite a mouthful of a name, but it quite impressive, according to the latest Unreal Engine docs. The team at Epic Games claims that with TSR enabled, you can get 4K quality with the framerates one would typically see at 1080p. In the example shown, the team rendered 4K frames at native 4K, which netted 18.6FPS,... Read more...
Thanks to the pandemic and stay-at-home orders over the last year, gaming has seen a massive uptick. However, traditional consoles and even PC components have been hard to come by due to the global semiconductor shortage. Amidst this console-supply vacuum, though, handheld consoles like the Nintendo Switch have achieved record sales, and now hardware and software company Valve may want in on the action. On Tuesday. SteamDB creator and data miner Pavel Djundik found a reference to a device codenamed “Neptune,” within the Steam Client beta. He further explained on Twitter that this “Neptune” controller is named “SteamPal” and has a list called “SteamPal... Read more...
Yesterday, we saw many images and a video that was supposedly from EA's upcoming Battlefield 6 trailer. We are not ones to look a gift horse in the mouth when it comes to Battlefield 6 leaks, as some new images and a gif have now come out from what appears to be the same leaker. Posted to Imgur about an hour ago, the new ten-second video shows a rocket taking off and then tipping over and exploding atop a building. It is hard to tell with the distracting black flashes and obnoxious LOL guy watermark, but it does fall in line with the other leaks we have seen. Sadly, we did not embed the video just out of an abundance of caution for those who have epilepsy, but you can look at it here if you would... Read more...
It seems EA is leakier than a boat with a screen door for a bottom as more Battlefield 6 leaks have come out while we get ever closer to the official reveal in June. Images have been posted to Imgur, videos to TikTok, and gifs posted galore showing off an estimated 80% of the official trailer, which looks quite impressive when all put together. Four days ago, leaked Battlefield 6 images were posted to Imgur with a massive and annoying LOL Guy watermark; you can see the images here. Before these images were posted, a new video appeared on TikTok showing what appears to be Battlefield trailer footage interspersed with some real-life footage. The key takeaway from all of this is that the Battlefield... Read more...
Gaming while on-the-go has gotten better over the years as handheld consoles are becoming more powerful and widespread. Now, Microsoft is taking things up a notch by turning its dual-screen Surface Duo into a versatile game-streaming device by updating the Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud) app for Android. This means gamers will have a virtual gamepad on one screen and the game on the other, which is rather awesome. The update, which goes live today, brings the touch controls for any Xbox game down to the second screen on the Surface Duo, rather than being overlaid on the game. It makes console gaming on the go much easier and less claustrophobic-feeling than on a regular mobile device. This change... Read more...
Verizon is getting ready to bolster a couple of its 'unlimited' mobile phone plans with another entertainment perk. Starting tomorrow (May 25), subscribers to Verizon's Play More and Get More unlimited plans will be eligible for a free year of either Apple Arcade or Google Play Pass, both of which normally run $4.99 per month. That works out to a nearly $60 value, when all is said and done. Apple Arcade and Google Play Pass are similar, in that they both offer up a large selection of games without annoying in-game ads or in-game purchases. Google's catalog is bigger, with there being more than 800 games and apps available, while Apple's catalog spans more than 180 games with titles like NBA 2K21... Read more...
Released in 2001, the original Xbox has become a classic gaming console that millions of people have played even to this day. Just over 20 years later, it seems there are also still easter eggs to be found on the device. With a little bit of work, Xbox console owners can see a list of members on the Xbox Dashboard Team hidden within the System Info menu. Yesterday, a developer for the original Xbox who wished to remain anonymous spoke with Kotaku about a previously hidden easter egg within the Xbox Dashboard. This person came forward because they “didn’t really expect it to be found, not unless the source code leaked or somebody reverse-engineered the Dashboard.” Interestingly,... Read more...
Traditional media, like TV and movies, have speed aside somewhat for video games becoming a popular way for people to spend time. According to new reports, typically traditional media company Netflix is eyeing a foray into the video games market. Today, The Information reports that Netflix has been looking to hire an executive to oversee an expansion to the video game market. The Los Gatos, California-based company has supposedly reached out to veteran game industry executives about joining the company or perhaps just to learn about the market. However, Netflix has already had some game content come out, like the Stranger Things games or interactive “choose your adventure” type content... Read more...
During the pandemic, many people have had nothing better to do than play video games in their downtime, and the market is showing that trend. Console sales are up tremendously, and even though there has been a lasting chip shortage affecting production for all brands, the Nintendo Switch is outpacing both the PlayStation 5 family and the Xbox Series X|S. For Q1 2021, Ampere Analysis reports that Nintendo Switch’s sell-through volume has hit 5.86 million units which is up roughly 12% compared to this time last year. However, this momentum may stagnate when Q2 comes around. This is because of how sales were affected during the pandemic and the massive launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons,... Read more...
For quite some time, popular battle royale game Fortnite has enjoyed crossover events with characters from other IPs and movies. It is about time for Call of Duty to get on that action, and it is happening in an explosive way with ‘80s action heroes coming to Verdansk. Players will be able to play as John McClane or Rambo across Call of Duty Warzone, Black Ops Cold War, and Mobile in this upcoming mid-season update. Starting today, the ‘80s Action Heroes event comes with a variety of limited-time content bundles and game modes alongside weapons, maps and other new features. To kick things off first, highly decorated MACV-SOG soldier John Rambo is coming as an operator in the “Rambo”... Read more...
In case you have not heard, NVIDIA's DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology is, quite literally, a game changer. NVIDIA really hit its stride with DLSS 2.0, which retained the same performance benefits of DLSS 1.0, but with much better image quality than what we saw out of the gate. Simply put, DLSS is pretty awesome. It's also now headed to virtual reality headsets. The first VR titles to benefit from DLSS include No Man's Sky, Into The Radius, and Wrench. We're especially intrigued by the addition to No Man's Sky, which drops players into an infinite procedurally generated universe. Cranking the game's settings up can put a serious strain on your GPU, and according to NVIDIA, enabling... Read more...
