HP seems to have tipped AMD's hand, in regards to a new processor launch that is perhaps coming sooner than later. That would be the Ryzen 7000 series, assuming a new listing on HP's website is accurate. The listing is for a pair of all-in-one desktops: 24-inch and 27-inch models in Starry White and Starry Forest, but it is not the choice of colors that is interesting here. What's eye-catching are the processor options. According to the listing, the upcoming all-in-one desktops can be kitted out with up to a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processors, which is Alder Lake, or up to an AMD Ryzen 7000 series processor. Here's a look at the listing... Click to Enlarge (Source: HP) There are a few different... Read more...
Earlier this morning, we brought you info on Hewlett-Packard's new 16-inch Spectre X360 2-in-1 convertible and 11 inch Tablet PC. But that isn't all that the PC giant has in store; it also debuted a new Envy 34 all-in-one PC that brings some stout specs (and Windows 11) to the table. As its name implies, the Envy 34 has a 34-inch display with a 5K resolution (5120x2160). This is an anti-reflective IPS panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio, 500 nits brightness, and 98 percent coverage for the DCI-P3 color spectrum. Powering the machine is one of two 11th generation Intel Tiger Lake processors: the Core i7-11700 or Core i9-11900. The base system comes with the Core i7-11700, 32GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD,... Windows 11 officially launches on October 5th, which means that a slew of PC OEMs will announce refreshed devices using the operating system over the next few weeks. Hewlett-Packard is getting the ball rolling early with the announcement of two new devices aimed at mobile professionals. The first is the Spectre x360 2-in-1, which features up to a 16-inch 4K+ (3840x2400) OLED touch display. For those keeping scores, the Spectre x360 previously topped out at 15 inches. Given that this announcement is happening before the launch of Intel’s 12th generation Alder Lake processors, the Spectre x360 is powered by the 11th generation Tiger Lake H35 family (up to a Core i7-11390H), features up to... Mobile workstations come in all shapes and sizes. Recently we took a look at the HP ZBook Fury 15 G7, a powerful mobile workstation with ISV-certified drivers that could replace many desktops, but in a more portable form factor. Many engineers need the type of power and reliability offered by a machine the size of the ZBook Fury 15 G7, to work with the latest 3D modeling apps, not to mention content creators that need all the video editing punch they can get, with some portability as well. However, many others in the same organization may need the same ISV-certified drivers with more portability and perhaps less power, to get critical work done while on the road. For those folks, there's... Read more...
HP is treating gamers to a handful of new and improved laptop options, including the first Omen to sport a 16.1-inch display, an Omen 17 that promises to deliver desktop-grade gaming on the back of up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPU, and the first offering as part of its brand new Victus line "with a distinctive lifestyle design." What you see above is the Omen 17, the biggest laptop of the bunch. HP saved its best configuration options for the Omen 17, as it is the only one of the bunch to be offered with up to a GeForce RTX 3080 GPU. It appears to be the full implementation, too, with a TGP of up to 165W (suggesting support for Dynamic Boost). The Omen 17 can also be configured with up to... Read more...
Today is all about the latest Intel Tiger Lake-H platform, and several companies have made announcements showing off the newest creations. Now, HP is joining the fray with the HP ZBook lineup that packs quite the punch. HP ZBook Fury G8 15.6” & 17.3” First up to bat, we have the HP ZBook Fury lineup, which appears to be one of the most powerful out of the bunch from HP. It comes in a 15” or 17” format that can bring “desktop-caliber performance packed in an incredibly sleek, slim design.” Under the hood of this beastly laptop is the latest Intel 11th Gen Core i9 and Xeon processors paired with up to an NVIDIA RTX A5000 graphics meaning you should be able... Normally when people think of "business-class laptops" they envision moderately powerful systems that handle office productivity tasks and web browsing duties with plenty of performance to keep employees productive, but without frivolous cost-adding features. On the flip side, workstations conjure images of tremendously powerful beasts with all the right kinds of excess: plenty of cores, tons of memory, and high-end professional graphics with certified drivers for powerful, mission-critical applications. Somewhere in the middle is the mobile workstation market, where hybrid laptops like the HP ZBook Fury 15 G7 we'll be showing you here today, try to straddle the line between the two extremes... We are just days away from Intel unveiling its high powered Tiger Lake-H stack, which will offer more cores and threads than its existing Tiger Lake-H35 lineup. Intel's hardware partners are evidentially excited about the big day. ASUS, for example, continues to tease a new Zephyrus laptop built around the upcoming CPUs, and an HP ZBook Studio also with Tiger Lake-H inside has found its way to a benchmarking database. Starting with the former, the ASUS ROG team teased an unveiling on Twitter, scheduled for May 11 at 8:00 am ET (11:00 am PT). It also erected an accompanying portal with a countdown timer, with Intel's branding and the words, "For those who dare, unleash the Tiger inside." That's... Read more...
In June 2020, Hewlett-Packard launched an all-new Omen 15 gaming laptop that gave enthusiasts a choice of either AMD Ryzen 4000 or 10th generation Intel Comet Lake-H processors. AMD systems were only available with a GeForce RTX 1660 Ti GPU, while Intel systems could have a GeForce RTX 2060 or GeForce RTX 2070. It looks as though HP is ready to unleash the 2021 version of the Omen 15, and it doesn't look like things are changing much on the outside, which is to be expected given last year's complete redesign. However, inside, the Omen 15 is getting an upgrade to Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 mobile processors. According to a new report, the Omen 15 will be available with AMD's latest Ryzen 7 5800H. The Ryzen... HP is readying numerous desktop models built around AMD's not-yet-released (or even announced) Ryzen 5000G series APUs. The upcoming chips will pair CPU cores based on AMD's latest generation Zen 3 architecture with Radeon graphics, which is an increasingly intriguing proposition, given the current shortage of graphics cards. The Ryzen 5000G series also marks the latest expansion of Zen 3 into yet another product segment, with AMD having already injected its desktop, laptop, and server CPUs with its newest architecture. However, the refreshed APU line does not officially exist at this precise moment. It will at some point, though, and lest there be any doubt, HP is busy updating some of its product... Read more...
As time goes on, more laptops built around Intel's Evo platform are emerging, bringing with them a combination of specifications and features that meet or exceed specific baseline criteria for performance, battery life, connectivity, and a few other bits. These common threads weave through Intel's Tiger Lake silicon with Xe graphics, which are key cogs in the Evo machine. HP's latest refresh of its Spectre X360 13 for 2021 is one of those laptops, blending luxury styling with Intel's newest generation CPUs and graphics, and the result is an absolutely gorgeous convertible with plenty of zip. The gas mileage is decent on this convertible as well, which is something we'll talk about a little later.... Read more...
Late last year, the HP Envy x360 13” convertible received an Intel Tiger Lake brain transplant which gave the lineup a nice performance boost. Now, that device's bigger brother, the Envy x360 15, is getting the same treatment and more with both Tiger Lake and AMD Ryzen 5000U options. Furthermore, some other nice-to-have upgrades make this a rather formidable laptop, especially at its retail price. On the AMD side of the table, HP offers two SKUs powered by either the Ryzen 5 5500U or the Ryzen 7 5700U Zen 3 processors, with boost clocks of up to 4.0GHz and 4.3GHz, respectively. As for Team Blue, there are options for 11th generation Core i5-1135G7 or an i7-1165G7 Tiger Lake processors... Read more...
The neat thing about benchmarking databases is not just the wealth of comparison data—they also serve as unofficial tipsters of upcoming products. And so it goes at UserBenchmark. A recent listing points to an HP EliteDesk 805 G8 mini desktop PC that has not yet been released, with an AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 5750G APU inside. AMD's Ryzen 7 Pro 5750G does not officially exist yet. Just last week, AMD formally introduced its mobile Ryzen Pro 5000 series processors for business-class laptops, but the lineup so far consists of just three SKUs: Ryzen 7 Pro 5850U, Ryzen 5 Pro 5650U, and Ryzen 3 Pro 5450U. AMD has not yet ported Zen 3 over to its desktop APU lineup. That day is presumably fast approaching,... Read more...
HP on Wednesday announced it has agreed to purchase Kingston's gaming division HyperX for $425 million, as part of a broader play to cash in on the fast-growing PC peripheral market. The acquisition gives HP a bigger foothold in the flourishing PC peripheral space, which the company anticipates being a lucrative $12.2 billion industry-wide market by 2024. HyperX sells a range of PC gaming accessories, including headsets, mechanical keyboards, mice, mouse pads, and USB microphones. It also offers various products for game consoles. Many of HyperX's products have been well received by gamers, like its Pulsefire Haste mouse and especially its expansive line of Cloud gaming headsets for both PC,... Read more...
It seems as though HP is ready to infuse its business laptops with AMD's latest generation Ryzen Pro processors, just as soon as they are formally introduced. We are talking about AMD's inevitable jump to Zen 3 within its Ryzen Pro series. So far AMD has announced Zen 3 processors for mainstream desktops and laptops, but has yet to port its latest generation architecture to its Pro lineup (or to servers, via EPYC). Ryzen Pro processors offer additional security features that can be beneficial to business users. They are essentially AMD's equivalent to Intel's vPro platform. Ryzen Pro CPUs have a dedicated security processor (AMD Secure Processor, or ASP), which acts as a hardware root of trust,... Read more...
This year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) was a different sort of animal than all previous ones, as the Coronavirus pandemic took away the feasibility of big crowds congregating in Las Vegas. In light of the situation, CES went completely virtual this year. What did not change, however, was the excitement and barrage of product releases and announcements that have become a staple of the annual tech event. This year did not disappoint in that regard. And as in previous years, there were some standouts among the bunch. What exactly stood out the most? Quite a few products, actually, which we have taken the liberty of highlighting. From next-gen laptops sporting brand new CPU and GPU hardware,... Read more...
Hewlett-Packard is kicking off CES 2021 with a slew of new products that fall under its "Elite" brand, and they're all quite impressive. We've got everything from convertibles, to Windows 10 on Arm devices to even wireless earbuds, so sit back and smell what HP is cooking for this year. Elite Dragonfly G2 and Elite Dragonfly Max The Elite Dragonfly G2 is aimed at the business market, and serves as a high-end 2-in-1 Windows 10 convertible. Instead of the older Intel Whiskey Lake processors that we saw in the previous generation, the new G2 offering is rocking 11th generation Tiger Lake Core processors (U-Series Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7). That also means that beefed up 12th generation... Read more...
Earlier this morning, we brought you some deals on excellent gaming laptops that complete with discrete graphics and chest-thumping 6- and 8-core processors. First up on our list is the Dell Inspiron 7000 2-in-1, which Best Buy is currently selling in both 15.6-inch and 13.3-inch configurations. The 13.3-inch model is cheaper at $649.99 and features an 11th generation (Tiger Lake) Core i5-1135G7 processor, 8GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and a display resolution of 1920x1080. Graphics duties are of course handled by the integrated 12th generation Iris Xe graphics controller.... Read more...

Remember when the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti seemingly came out of no where, bolstering NVIDIA's Ampere lineup with a more affordable SKU? Except it did not really come out of thin air—there were numerous leaks and rumors of the part leading up to its launch. That being the case, it seems very likely a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is in the cards as well. NVIDIA has not announced or even alluded to such a part, but like the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti before it released, the number of leaks and rumors are piling up. Earlier this week, for example, NVIDIA's add-in board (AIB) partner Manli had registered a bunch of unannounced GeForce RTX 30 cards with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), including the GeForce... It has been a little over three months since Intel formally launched its 11th Gen Core Tiger Lake CPUs, but the market is not exactly flooded with laptops built around the chip maker's latest mobile CPUs. HP is helping to change that—it is rolling out new business-oriented EliteBook 800 G8 laptops built around Tiger Lake, and is also refreshing its ZBook Firefly mobile workstations. According to Intel, its 11th Gen Core chips are the "best processors for thin and light laptops." In our limited experiences with Tiger Lake so far—including a reference Tiger Lake laptop we benchmarked and during our Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 review—we have liked what we have seen from Intel's latest generation... HP is launching a version of its Reverb virtual reality headset that will have a state-of-the-art sensory system, aimed primarily at developer and enterprise customers. According to HP, its new Reverb G2 Omnicept Edition brings about a new era of VR, a bold claim that hinges on the array of sensors being able to capture "physiological responses for a unique user-centric experience." VR is an era in and of itself, and one that is still in its relative infancy (as it pertains to mass adoption on current hardware). Oculus gets credit for spearheading the modern VR movement, and now several years removed from when the original Rift landed on Kickstarter, there are a bunch of competing headsets, some...
