Intel hasn’t officially announced its 12th generation Alder Lake processor families yet, but that isn’t stopping Lenovo from giving us a teaser of what’s to come. The company today pulled the wraps off its Legion 9000K (2022) desktop PC via Weibo. Translating the text on the poster, Lenovo says that the system is “Equipped with a new Core 12th generation processor.” This confirms that we’re looking at a system powered by Alder Lake, and that’s further backed up by the mention of DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 support. Although there is no mention of what processors are in use with the system, one of the following SKUs will likely be included: Core i9-12900K:... Read more...
As the launch of Windows 11 draws near, hardware makers are readying new designs and product refreshes that will come with OS right out of the gate. Lenovo is one of them. The company announced a couple of new Windows 11 laptops, the Yoga Slim 7 Carbon and Yoga Slim 7 Pro, and also a Chromebook with an OLED display, the IdeaPad Duet 5. Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Carbon With AMD Inside (Also Called IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon) Lenovo is pitching its Yoga Slim 7 Carbon as the world's lightest 14-inch laptop with an OLED screen. It weighs just 1kg (2.37 pounds) and is a scant 14.9mm (0.59 inches) thin. And of course it boasts a flexible form factor, which is a hallmark of the Yoga series—it bends all the... Read more...
AMD's Ryzen 5000HS mobile processors were once exclusive to ASUS "thin and light" laptops, but that no longer appears to be the case. According to Lenovo documentation that is now available online, the Yoga Slim 7 Pro will be available with Ryzen 5000HS Creator Edition processors. The two new processor options are the Ryzen 7 5800HS Creator Edition and the Ryzen 9 5900HS Creator Edition. Compared to their lesser counterparts, they have base clocks that are 400MHz and 300MHz higher, respectively. However, the maximum boost clocks remain the same. AMD Ryzen 7 5800HS Creator Edition: 3.2GHz/4.4GHz (Base/Boost) AMD Ryzen 7 5800HS 2.8GHz/4.4GHz (Base/Boost) AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS Creator Edition: 3.3GHz/4.6GHz... Read more...
It appears that at least one executive over at Lenovo has some rather loose lips when it comes to unannounced products. Chen Jin, who serves as Lenovo's General Manager for the mobile phone unit, claimed in a Weibo post that the company's next-generation flagship mobile smartphone will launch in late 2021. While that news might not seem all that interesting on the surface, we must mention that the flagship will use Qualcomm's latest flagship SoC, which has not yet been announced. As a result, the smartphone could use one of two SoCs, with one being more likely than the other. The first [and most likely] possibility is a refresh of the existing Snapdragon 888 that launched earlier this year. Flagship... Read more...

Like many notebooks announced over the past few months from various OEMs, the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 now sports Intel's latest 11th generation Tiger Lake-H processors. Tiger Lake-H processors are available in up to 8-core/16-thread configurations, unlike the 4-core/8-thread maximum of its Tiger Lake-U counterparts. In the case of the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4, Lenovo says that you can configure the laptop with up to a Core i9 vPro processor with up to 64GB of DDR4-3200 RAM (via two SO-DIMM slots). When it comes to storage, two internal... Read more...

Hot on the heels of NVIDIA lifting the embargo on its newly minted GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card comes a fresh leak pointing to some new mobile GPUs that are presumably in the pipeline. At a glance, it seems as though Lenovo has spilled the beans on at least two 'Super' SKUs in the works, both bound for its ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 laptop. The Gen 4 model is not yet out, and every ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 configuration sports a GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Max-Q graphics chip (we reviewed the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 1, which came out with a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti). According to a leaked image of a presentation deck outlining Lenovo's ThinkPad roadmap, the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 will also feature... Read more...
Lenovo's venerable ThinkPad X1 Carbon has been one of the longest-running of the company's trusted business-class laptop series. Now in its 9th generation, Lenovo sought to re-energize the X1 Carbon not only with Intel 11th Gen Core Series processors (Tiger Lake), but with Intel Evo certification that brings with it a number of key refinements. The machine that we have on tap for review here today also includes an impressive new 16:10 format UHD+ (3840X2400) display. Though the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 retains its unmistakably classic and understated hybrid carbon fiber weave and magnesium alloy body, weighing in at a feather-light 2.49 pounds, we're now also treated to a single, unified hinge... Over the past few weeks, Amazon has been spilling the beans on upcoming ASUS Tiger Lake-H gaming laptops. Today, it's Lenovo's time in the spotlight, and we can't blame Amazon for the leak this time. In fact, it was Lenovo itself that briefly listed the specifications for its upcoming Legion 5 Pro gaming laptop (and made it available for purchase). The Legion Pro 5 is powered by up to a current-generation AMD Ryzen 7 5800H Zen 3 processor. It also has a 16-inch QHD display (2560x1600, 16:10) with a 165Hz refresh rate and is compatible with NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync. However, the more interesting news confirmed by Lenovo's product listing is the appearance of two unannounced NVIDIA GeForce... Read more...
Lenovo's flagship ThinkPad X1 lineup has historically been one of our favorite business-class laptop product lines. Lenovo made a quick transition recently, and upgraded this popular laptop series with Intel's 11th Gen Tiger Lake processors that roared onto the scene with a nice performance lift and useful platform updates late last year. Besides the platform upgrade though, Lenovo also pulled a proverbial rabbit out of its hat when it dropped Tiger Lake into the thin and light 1.99lb ThinkPad X1 Nano. The performance-per-pound ratio of this machine should prove impressive and make for a solid, highly portable combination for business professionals or casual mainstream laptop users alike. Though... One glance is all it takes to figure out Lenovo has ASUS in its sights with its new Legion Phone Duel 2, a high-powered gaming phone with similar specifications and features as the ROG Phone 5. What exactly constitutes a gaming phone, anyway? It starts with the flagship hardware, like Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 SoC, but these companies have figured out it takes more than just top-end specs. Not that either phone is lacking in premium components. The Snapdragon 888 is the best consumer chipset on tap from Qualcomm right now, with eight Kryo CPU cores (one clocked at 2.84GHz, three clocked at 2.42GHz, and four clocked at 1.8GHz) and an Adreno 660 GPU running at 840MHz. It is the chipset of choice... Read more...
Tobii head and eye tracking can be an incredible add-on that can improve immersion while gaming. The only issue is that the traditional eye-tracking bar from Tobii can be cost-prohibitive for some people, especially if they just built or bought a new PC. In response to this, Lenovo is now working with Tobii to implement head tracking into the Lenovo Legion 7 gaming laptop releasing later this year. Using Tobii Aware technology, Tobii Horizon is a new PC application “that leverages sensor data from the laptop’s in-built web camera to deliver highly accurate head tracking for enhanced game immersion and simulation experiences.” The tech offers six degrees of freedom head tracking... When it comes to high-end content creation, time is money. Businesses with employees that are stuck sitting around waiting for compute-intensive tasks to finish, simply can't get as much accomplished as those with speedy hardware that can power through the most demanding tasks. Tons of parallel processing power and professional-tier graphics cards for these scenarios don't come cheap, but they can certainly pay dividends in terms of efficiency and time saved. That's the story of Lenovo's ultra-powerful ThinkStation P620 workstation, which is on our test bench today.  Breaking this system from its cardboard container caused us to stop and admire all the hardware tucked away inside. That same... Read more...
As classes are being held remotely and students still need to get work done, having a device versatile to handle it all is essential.  Thus, Lenovo has announced a new line of Chromebooks and Windows laptops geared toward education, and they seem rather impressive.  There are features for students, educators, and administrators which should up the game across-the-board.  Lenovo Chromebooks When you think "Chromebook," there is typically an image that comes to mind, including rounded edges, matte colors, and pokey performance. With Lenovo's 14e, that idea of a Chromebook is torn down with a sleek finish that makes the 14e look quite professional. Besides the looks, the Lenovo 14e... Read more...
AMD will be refreshing its family of Ryzen Pro processors for laptops, with a new generation lineup based on its Zen 3 CPU architecture. There is still no official release date, and likewise, AMD has not announced what specific SKUs will launch. However, two eventual Ryzen Pro 5000 series processors have been leaked by one of AMD's hardware partners. Usually these kinds of early leaks come by way of benchmark database entries (Geekbench is a popular destination), screenshots posted to forums (like Weibo), and/or the usual suspects on Twitter. This time, however, Lenovo let the cat part way out of the bag by posting a pair of Ryzen Pro 5000 series SKUs on a ThinkPad P14s spec sheet. Source: Lenovo... Read more...
If you were disappointed that Intel's latest gaming-fueled Tiger Lake-H35 processors only featured four cores and eight threads, we've got some good news for you this morning. The first signs of production laptops withTiger Lake-H45 processors have been spotted. While you probably surmised that Tiger Lake-H35 processors have a TDP of up to 35 watts, the H45 suffix, of course, corresponds with a higher 45-watt TDP. The higher TDP allows Intel to finagle 8-cores and 16 threads into the Tiger Lake-H45 processors. The increased core/thread count makes the processors proper successors to the Comet Lake-H family launched with laptops in early 2020. Intel previously confirmed that these... Read more...
Another graphics card that pays homage to the past is coming to the forefront, though this time it is a pair of Radeon RX 6000 series cards from a most unlikely source...Lenovo. Be honest, would you have guessed 'Lenovo' had you not read the headline? Be that as it may, Lenovo is set to launch what we consider two of the better looking RDNA 2 cards on the market (subjective opinion, of course), under its Legion banner. For the most part, Legion is Lenovo's gaming brand, spanning desktops, laptops, and peripherals. Pretty soon, you can add graphics cards to the mix as well. Technically, this is not Lenovo's first graphics card, though the majority of its past offerings have been focused on the... Read more...
Lenovo has just announced a thorough redesign of several of its popular laptop families, including the ThinkPad X13/X13 i laptops and ThinkPad X13 Yoga 2-in-1 convertible. All the machines have been completely redesigned with new 16:10 displays, which seems to be all the rage these days for consumers that want to be more productive (the competing Dell XPS 13 family has also gone with the 16:10 aspect ratio). The display measures 13.3 inches diagonally with up to a WQXGA resolution and includes Low Blue Light technology to reduce eye strain. Customers will be able to choose from 11th generation Intel Core vPro processors (ThinkPad X13 i) or AMD's latest Zen 3-based Ryzen 5000 mobile processors... Read more...
