Who knew that being a tech enthusiast (or even just a consumer of electronic gadgets) could be so harrowing? Okay, it's not truly that dire, but in the span of about a week, we've reported on a Galaxy A21 smartphone catching fire on an Alaska Airlines plane (prompting an evacuation), and an issue with certain Gigabyte power supply units that can cause them to spark and explode. Newegg can't help anyone with the former, but it is offering to assist with latter, for people who own an affected model. It was important that Newegg be proactive on the situation, because the two affected PSU models—Gigabyte's 750W GP-P750GM and 850W GP-P850GM—were being offloaded as part of various GPU bundles... Late last week, we received the latest market share numbers from Mercury Research regarding AMD's processor market share. Needless to say, the company is performing exceptionally well in both the client and server markets. According to Mercury Research, AMD's share of the overall x86 processor revenue market stood at 16.9 percent for Q2 2021, which was a +0.8 point change compared to the prior quarter and a +7.3 point change year-over-year. In addition, client and server revenue share stood at 15.8 percent and 11.6 percent, up 4.1 and 4.7 percentage points, respectively, compared to the same period last year. With this in mind, we decided to venture over to two of the most popular retail websites... Read more...
When people build a PC, they typically find themselves at either Amazon or Newegg while looking for parts online. However, Newegg is now offering professional PC assembly through its PC Builder site to save users time and trouble. Newegg believes that there is an untapped market of customers who would rather have a PC professionally assembled over building it themselves. As such, the tech e-tailer has announced a new build-to-order business that utilizes its in-house computer assembly service ENIAC to “deliver fully assembled computers significantly faster than other competitive BTO offerings,” at just $99. To this end, Vishal Mane, Director of Engineering at Newegg, explained that... Read more...
Another GeForce RTX 30 Series launch from NVIDIA means another exercise in frustration for gamers. We had a chance to review NVIDIA's latest mid-range GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition yesterday and came away generally impressed with its performance. But, unfortunately, things aren't looking good for enthusiasts that want a chance to sample this bit of gaming goodness. We decided to do a quick check at the usual online retail suspects for selling graphics cards, including Best Buy and Newegg. Best Buy only has two GeForce RTX 3070 Ti cards on the books: NVIDIA's Founders Edition and the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. Things don't look too out of the ordinary with the Founders Edition,... Read more...
Earlier this month, NVIDIA confirmed that its new entry-level GeForce RTX 3060 would launch on February 25th. Last night, the company added a bit more clarity to the launch, revealing that the first retail cards would be available starting today at noon EST. The GeForce RTX 3060’s imminent availability is welcome news to budget gamers out there attracted to the $329 retail price that NVIDIA has bestowed upon the GeForce RTX 3060, but scoring one for that price may be nearly impossible. A quick trip over to Best Buy shows that the retailer currently has three GeForce RTX 3060 cards listed as “Coming Soon,” and none of them are anywhere close to $329. The cheapest card available... In the year of preorder hell and delays, trying to snag a GPU is a tough task. Combine that with bots, scalpers, and hundreds of thousands of other people waiting to get their hands on a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT just as you are, odds go down even further. To help combat against bots and scalpers, Newegg implemented combo deals that have GPUs in them, so you could get a GPU and some RAM or a PSU for a markup on top of the GPU. Previously, you could return the extra items if you did not need it, but Newegg is cutting that off to the ire of many Newegg customers. In theory, adding extra items to an order to drive up the cost to reduce scalping makes sense. If Newegg retained... Read more...
If you’ve had your eyes on the GeForce RTX 3070 — and we know that many of you probably are after reading the HotHardware review earlier this week — you better have your index finger at the ready this morning. Even though NVIDIA delayed the launch of the GeForce RTX 3070 by two weeks to have ample supply of the cards in the channel for customers, at least one major online retailer isn’t expecting its stock to last very long. Late last night, Newegg tweeted that while it “will have more inventory than previous 30 series launches” on hand, it still anticipates that cards will sell out within minutes. That doesn’t give us much confidence... Read more...
It remains to be seen what the demand will be like for NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card, the big daddy of the GeForce RTX 30 series. What I can say is that pricing will start at $1,499, as NVIDIA has already announced. However, some of the custom models from NVIDIA's add-in board partners will cost up to a few hundred dollars more, it seems. In contrast, the GeForce RTX 3080 starts at $699, and has proven immensely popular. NVIDIA and its retail partners quickly sold out of available stock, partly because scalpers and bots flooded the scene. This prompted an apology from NVIDIA, along with a self-imposed Q&A explaining the shortage situation, and a promise to handle things... Read more...
In case you missed it, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 is the hottest thing to hit the PC graphics scene since... well, the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti roughly two years ago. We tested NVIDIA's new mainstream gaming flagship yesterday and came away impressed by the sheer power of the Ampere GPU architecture, which doubles the performance of AMD's flagship Radeon RX 5700 XT and far outpaces the outgoing GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. The only thing left for gamers to do at this point is to actually purchase the GeForce RTX 3080, and luckily, cards from NVIDIA and from its OEM partners go on sale a little over an hour from now at 9am EST. NVIDIA has set the price of the GeForce RTX 3080 at $699,... Read more...
Newegg has announced a nice discount on a popular NVMe internal PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD that promises blazing-fast boot times and large amounts of storage for users building a new computer. The Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD is currently on sale at Newegg for $30 off. The one caveat to the $30 savings is that users can only order one at the discounted price. The regular sale price for the Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD is $199.99, while the promo code "93XPL47" brings that price tag down to $169.99. AMD has encountered a lot of success with its Ryzen 3000 family of processors, which offer a compelling balance of performance, value, and power efficiency that gamers are looking for. While all of us would likely love to have a 12-core Ryzen 9 3900X or 16-core Ryzen 9 3950X in our gaming rigs, some of us with more limited budgets are instead looking at processors in the sub-$200 range.  That leads us to the Ryzen 5 3600, which is available right now from Newegg for a low $164.99. The retailer typically sells the processor for $179.99, but it is discounting the processor by $15 with the coupon code EMCDEDR23. You of course get free shipping with the processor, and it also comes with... Read more...

In recent months, most of the attention in the [production] AMD graphics card segment has been on the newly introduced Radeon RX 5600 XT. The card was launched as a competitor for the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and came with a $279 price tag. Not to be forgotten, however, is the more performant Radeon RX 5700 that normally hovers in the $350 price range. Retailer Newegg, however, is cranking out a rather large discount on the MSI Radeon RX 5700 Evoke OC graphics card for those that are looking for a graphics upgrade. Newegg has the gaming card priced at $339.99, but it is offering a $30 discount with the promo code VGAPCRW456. That takes the price down to $309.99. On top of that, the MSI is... Read more...

If you're looking for a dirt-cheap gaming console for yourself, a family member, or maybe a recent graduate, Newegg is running a fantastic deal on the Xbox One S. Via Newegg's eBay Store, the Xbox One S is currently priced at a reasonable $199. However, if you add the console to your cart and go through the checkout process, the price drops by another $29.85 bringing the total price to a red hot $169.15 (before any applicable sales tax, depending on your state). That's near Black Friday level pricing for the Xbox One S, but it actually gets even better. For select eBay accounts, eBay's equally hot eBay Bucks promotional period is ending today that gives you 8 percent back if you purchase... Read more...

In case you missed it, NVIDIA launched its [widely leaked] GeForce GTX 1660 Ti this morning, and we've got a full review which you can check out right here. As most are well aware of at this point, the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti is based on NVIDIA's Turing GPU architecture, albeit without Tensor or RT cores, meaning that you don't have dedicated hardware for real-time ray tracing. With that being said, the GeForce RTX 1660 Ti is being positioned as a replacement for the GeForce GTX 1060, but as our benchmarks bore out, it is actually more comparable to the GeForce GTX 1070. And with a price of less than $300, the card represents a pretty compelling bargain for those that game at 1440p and below.... Read more...
Gamers who have been holing out for prices on the Xbox One X to go down before they jump into 4K gaming might want to take advantage now. Newegg has the Xbox One X bundle that includes a single controller and a copy of the maligned Fallout 76 game for $349.99, which is a $150 discount off the normal $499 price. That makes this Newegg deal significantly better than the best price we saw during Black Friday at Walmart for $399. The only caveat is you have to be able to live with paying Bethesda some loot for the stinker of a game that is Fallout 76. Bethesda is still working on the game, but so far no significant improvements have been seen. Bethesda has promised better communication with fans... Read more...

Even though Newegg is one of the most popular destinations for enthusiasts looking to score the latest and greatest hardware for the gaming rigs, the retail giant is not immune to the nefarious actions of the hacker community. To that end, Newegg's website was hacked, and the parties responsible were able to inject 15 lines of credit card skimming code into the retailer's payments page. That code hid there, undetected, from August 14 through September 18 meaning if you made a purchase there between those dates, you need to be concerned. News of the attack comes from Yonathan Klijnsma, a threat researcher from RiskIQ. The injected code was able to steal credit card data from customers and sent... Read more...
When it comes to AMD's Ryzen Threadripper family of processors, the 1920X and 1920X tend to get the bulk of the attention. After all, the High-End Desktop (HEDT) processors pack in 12 and 16 cores respectively with bargain pricing compared to their Intel counterparts. However, there is one member of the Threadripper family that doesn't get a lot of attention, and that's the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X. If you're looking to score a deal on the entry-level offering in the Threadripper family, Newegg has posted a HOT deal on the Threadripper 1900X. While the processor usually has a street price of $429.99, Newegg is dropping that price by $50 when you apply the coupon code "NESOCIAL19X" -- without... Read more...
