Earlier this morning, we brought you info on Hewlett-Packard's new 16-inch Spectre X360 2-in-1 convertible and 11 inch Tablet PC. But that isn't all that the PC giant has in store; it also debuted a new Envy 34 all-in-one PC that brings some stout specs (and Windows 11) to the table. As its name implies, the Envy 34 has a 34-inch display with a 5K resolution (5120x2160). This is an anti-reflective IPS panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio, 500 nits brightness, and 98 percent coverage for the DCI-P3 color spectrum. Powering the machine is one of two 11th generation Intel Tiger Lake processors: the Core i7-11700 or Core i9-11900. The base system comes with the Core i7-11700, 32GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD,... In June 2020, Hewlett-Packard launched an all-new Omen 15 gaming laptop that gave enthusiasts a choice of either AMD Ryzen 4000 or 10th generation Intel Comet Lake-H processors. AMD systems were only available with a GeForce RTX 1660 Ti GPU, while Intel systems could have a GeForce RTX 2060 or GeForce RTX 2070. It looks as though HP is ready to unleash the 2021 version of the Omen 15, and it doesn't look like things are changing much on the outside, which is to be expected given last year's complete redesign. However, inside, the Omen 15 is getting an upgrade to Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 mobile processors. According to a new report, the Omen 15 will be available with AMD's latest Ryzen 7 5800H. The Ryzen... The neat thing about benchmarking databases is not just the wealth of comparison data—they also serve as unofficial tipsters of upcoming products. And so it goes at UserBenchmark. A recent listing points to an HP EliteDesk 805 G8 mini desktop PC that has not yet been released, with an AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 5750G APU inside. AMD's Ryzen 7 Pro 5750G does not officially exist yet. Just last week, AMD formally introduced its mobile Ryzen Pro 5000 series processors for business-class laptops, but the lineup so far consists of just three SKUs: Ryzen 7 Pro 5850U, Ryzen 5 Pro 5650U, and Ryzen 3 Pro 5450U. AMD has not yet ported Zen 3 over to its desktop APU lineup. That day is presumably fast approaching,... Read more...
HP on Wednesday announced it has agreed to purchase Kingston's gaming division HyperX for $425 million, as part of a broader play to cash in on the fast-growing PC peripheral market. The acquisition gives HP a bigger foothold in the flourishing PC peripheral space, which the company anticipates being a lucrative $12.2 billion industry-wide market by 2024. HyperX sells a range of PC gaming accessories, including headsets, mechanical keyboards, mice, mouse pads, and USB microphones. It also offers various products for game consoles. Many of HyperX's products have been well received by gamers, like its Pulsefire Haste mouse and especially its expansive line of Cloud gaming headsets for both PC,... Read more...
Today, Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard Enterprise announced a partnership to bring Azure and edge computing to the ultimate edge: space. This will allow Azure workloads, local computing, and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to be leveraged on the International Space Station (ISS). As Tom Keane, Corporate VP of Azure Global, explains, “Astronauts and space explorers deserve access to the best cloud computing technologies and advanced processing.” When it comes to working and computing in space, “Sometimes analysis needs to be done immediately at the edge,” or “other times the analysis is so massively complex that it can only be performed with the power of the... It seems as though HP is ready to infuse its business laptops with AMD's latest generation Ryzen Pro processors, just as soon as they are formally introduced. We are talking about AMD's inevitable jump to Zen 3 within its Ryzen Pro series. So far AMD has announced Zen 3 processors for mainstream desktops and laptops, but has yet to port its latest generation architecture to its Pro lineup (or to servers, via EPYC). Ryzen Pro processors offer additional security features that can be beneficial to business users. They are essentially AMD's equivalent to Intel's vPro platform. Ryzen Pro CPUs have a dedicated security processor (AMD Secure Processor, or ASP), which acts as a hardware root of trust,... Read more...
We know with relative certainty that NVIDIA is preparing to launch a line of mobile GPUs based on Ampere, just as it has already done on the desktop with its GeForce RTX 30 series. I say "relatively certainty" because nothing is official until there is an actual announcement. While we wait, yet another leak points to a GeForce RTX 3070 Mobile GPU. This follows a roundup of specifications for unannounced mobile GPUs that we wrote about yesterday, including regular and Max-Q variants of the GeForce RTX 3080 Mobile, GeForce RTX 3070 Mobile, and GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile. And if prior leaks and rumors are any indication, there will also be a GeForce RTX 3050 Mobile on tap from NVIDIA at some point.... Read more...

Intel is scheduled to do an architectural deep dive on its 10nm Tiger Lake architecture next week, and the actual launch date is set for September 2nd. However, that isn't stopping leaks from making their way to the internet as Intel's OEM partners get their products and marketing materials ready for next month. With that in mind, Hewlett-Packard's loose lips have revealed the existence of the upcoming Pavilion 13 laptop (13-bb0027nr) laptop. Rather than using the current, 10th generation Core i7-1065G7 processor, this new Pavilion 13 is sporting the new 11th generation Core i7-1165G7. The noticeable difference between the two CPUs is that base clock of the Core i7-1065G7... Read more...

Ryzen 7 4800H processors come with a faster... Read more...
Fans of Hewlett-Packard's Omen family of gaming laptops will be happy to know that an all-new design is on the way for 2020. The company was a little bit premature with the unveil of the new look via its UK website, but the information is still visible via Google Cache. For starters, there appear to be thinner bezels around the top and sides of the display panel the time around, which is a nice touch for the Omen 15. In addition, the display no longer leaves an "air gap" between its bottom edge and the chassis when opened. The touchpad is larger this time around, and there are four independent RGB lighting zones for the island-style keyboard. The RGB lighting effects are controlled... Read more...
Hewlett-Packard today is once again updating its mobile family, this time with a refresh of the Pavilion x360 14 convertible. HP is talking up the well-rounded versatility of the device, which is not only lightweight (coming in at 3.55 pounds pounds), but is just 18mm thick. At the center of the hardware experience are 10th generation Intel Core processors (Ice Lake) and up to a 1TB PCIe SSD. HP hasn't told us yet what the full processor lineup will look like for the Pavilion x360 14, but the SKUs that we've seen include the Core i5-1035G1 and Core i3-1005G1. As its name suggests, the Pavilion x360 14 comes with a 14-inch IPS display (1920x1080). As you might expect, there's an integrated... Read more...
Buying a laptop in prior weeks was a risky proposition because of all the new CPU and GPU options that were on the horizon. For those who had the patience to wait it out, they are now being rewarded with brand new configurations from HP and others. As it applies to HP specifically, the company today announced a whole bunch of refreshed thin and light laptops primarily aimed at creators. These new configurations are built for both work and play, and depending on the specific SKU. If taking a broad look, HP's updated portfolio includes several new ZBook Studio, ZBook Create, and Envy models. Zooming in a little closer, however, reveals more than half a dozen product lines: ZBook Studio, ZBook Create,... Read more...
Hewlett-Packard is no stranger to using Ryzen processors in its desktops and laptops, and the company is further showing its confidence in AMD with the launch of new ProBook 445 G7 and 455 G7 business laptops. Both machines are powered by AMD's new Ryzen 4000 processors, which feature integrated Radeon Vega GPUs. The smaller of the two is the ProBook 445 G7, which features a 14-inch display available in HD and Full HD resolutions, all of which feature an anti-glare coating. Base systems come with the Ryzen 3 4300U APU, while the step-up option is the Ryzen 5 4500U. Those that require a bit more power at their disposal can opt for the Ryzen 7 4700U (2GHz base clock, 4.2GHz max boost).... Read more...
AMD just announced today a design win in conjunction with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE), in which it will be providing the hardware powering the El Capitan exascale-class supercomputer. What caught our eye about this announcement was not the compute performance -- which will be enormous at 2 exaflops double precision -- but the CPUs and GPUs that will be inside. According to AMD, its next-generation Radeon Instinct GPU accelerators will be deployed featuring advanced high bandwidth memory (HBM). The company will also be using third-generation Infinity Fabric Architecture that provides a high-bandwidth, low-latency interconnect to string... Read more...
For the longest time, replicating a desktop-class gaming experience on a laptop meant spending a hefty premium on a comparable mobile configuration, and to some extent, that still holds true today. The situation is much improved, however, as the cost of entry into PC gaming territory in general has continuously fallen on the hardware side, for both desktops and laptops. Simply put, the bang-for-buck proposition on a gaming PC has never been higher than it is right now. HP's newest model Omen 17 gaming laptop highlights this. It also accentuates the shrinking divide between desktops and laptops, in terms of how far you can stretch your dollar. Not to be overlooked, this is especially intriguing... Read more...
All-in-one (AIO) configurations have become more powerful over the years, to the point where some models feature high-end GPU solutions for gaming, one of the most demanding tasks performed on a PC. So it goes with HP's new Envy 32 AIO solutions. HP's newest AIO breed packs some powerful hardware into a sleek package, including up to a 65W Intel 9th generation Core i7-9700 processor and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 GPU. HP is primarily targeting creators, and to that end, it notes the Envy 32 AIO is the first of its kind to join NVIDIA's RTX Studio program. "Purpose-built for today’s creators, RTX Studio is capable of powering over 40 of the world’s top creative and design applications... Read more...
Technically speaking, Black Friday is in the rear view mirror, leaving us in that seemingly awkward period that falls between the annual day of bargains and Cyber Monday. Over the years, however, Black Friday and Cyber Monday have morphed into a long weekend of sales. We mention this because there are a bunch of laptop deals that are still active on Amazon, including Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air. Whether you want to call these lingering Black Friday deals or early Cyber Monday bargains hardly matters—the point is, there are savings to be had. Discounts On Apple's MacBook Air For Black Friday And Cyber Monday Amazon is selling the aforementioned MacBook Air for $699, which is $300 below its... Read more...
There's been plenty of doom and gloom surrounding PC shipments over the past few years, with many consumers and business opting to not upgrade their hardware on a regular basis. However, new numbers that are in from research firm Gartner suggests that PC sales actually saw a slight uptick for Q3 2019 compared to the year-ago period, continuing a trend we saw during the second quarter. According to Garner's figures, shipments actually increased by 1.1 percent during Q3 to 68.1 million units. This compares to 67.4 million units during Q3 2018. What's interesting is that there were a number of factors at play that could have had a negative impact on the quarterly numbers: namely warning signs... Read more...
