Has it really been seven years since the last time Sony launched a major gaming console for the living room? You betcha it has, which means if you were 11 years old when the PlayStation 3 came out, you're now old enough to join the military, buy lottery tickets, and stand trial as an adult if you run afoul of the law. Or maybe your son or daughter was 11-years-old when the PS3 came out, and is now off to college. Whatever the case, this is Sony's longest lapse in between PlayStation consoles, but friends, the wait is over. After months of rumors, Sony today ended all the speculation by finally introducing the world to its PlayStation 4 (yes, it's called PlayStation 4!). Was it worth the wait?... Read more...
Those of you who lamented the rumor that Sony was ditching its dual-shock design for the PlayStation 4 (PS4) controller in favor of one that more closely resembles the Wii U's can breathe a sigh of relief. Based on a leaked photo of an early prototype, it appears the PS4's controller will retain the same overall design as every previous PS controller, but with some upgrades for the modern era. Most of the details are unknown at this time, and we really hope Sony doesn't ditch the traditional controller in favor of a touchscreen-based input device akin to the Wii U, as had been rumored,... Is there anything Google can't do these days? Apparently the sultan of search can even predict which next generation game console is likely to be the top dog. The mystifying answer to which is going to be more popular, Microsoft's Xbox 720 or Sony's PlayStation 4 (or whatever each console will ultimately be called) can be found by glancing at past search trends. You can do that on Google Trends, a Google service that allows you to explore trends in search and even compare different search queries based on a number criteria. Since Microsoft and Sony have both kept relatively quiet about their next generation console plans, Google Trends allows us to at least see which one consumers appear more... Read more...
