There are some games like Skyrim that have lived on thanks largely to a robust modding community. However, there is always a risk that one’s video game mods will be targeted by the original developers. Fans of the Grand Theft Auto series particularly run this risk. Several GTA mods were recently hit with a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) strike from Take-Two Interactive. All of the mods were available on LibertyCity, a well-known mod depository that specializes in GTA mods. They are as follows:  Vice Cry: Remastered 1.0 OpenManhunt 1.0.0 Liberty revind Bullworth - OpenBull 1.0.0 ViIV (Alhpa version и Version 3) Grand Theft Auto V: Bullworth 0.1 [ALPHA] SA2LC Liberty City... Crime never pays unless you are playing Red Dead Redemption 2 with the new Blood Money update, allowing players to “venture into the criminal underworld of the west.” There is a lot to cover in this update, so let’s giddy up! The Blood Money update brings a host of new criminal possibilities for all players, including with Guido Martelli, right-hand man to mob boss Angelo Bronte, and his crime ring. You can take on new Crimes in exchange for Capitale, “a system of exchange designed for the Bronte family’s more sensitive business dealings,” sort of the Bitcoin of the old West, it seems. The Capitale can then be traded in for access to Opportunities, the first... Read more...
As time marches onward, new developments and technologies come along, requiring the sunsetting of that which came previously. It appears that time has come for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as Rockstar has announced the shuttering of Grand Theft Auto Online on December 16th for the antiquated yet beloved consoles. Around 2005 and 2006, the original Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 were revealed, bringing gaming into more people's living rooms. Then in 2010, both consoles got a facelift with a "slim" version that gave upgrades and fixes to both platforms. Three years later, GTA V and GTA Online released on both consoles, beginning the saga of one of the most played video games in current history.... Read more...
Later this afternoon, video game company Take-Two will be hosting an interactive panel during E3, the multi-day video game industry event. Though they are the parent company of Rockstar Games and 2K Games, which could have several games to announce, this is not quite what we are expecting today. Starting at 10:15 AM PT / 1:15 PM ET, the Take-Two event is a panel discussion about “diversity, equity, and inclusion in the gaming industry.” On stage, you will find Susanna Pollack of Games for Change, Jim Huntley of USC Games, Gordon Bellamy of Gay Gaming Pros, and Laila Shabir of Girls Make Games. GTA 6 rumors seem to be popping up and disappearing just as quickly, like the recent news about Rockstar hiring game testers for GTA 6 or any other game the company is working on. Since 2018, it seems that the new map, or at least part of it, may have been leaked online, giving us a glimpse into GTA 6 and what it will look like. Over the last couple of years, four images have been leaked, showing what appears to be a map with a larger landmass with smaller surrounding islands. Reports are that the first image showed an incomplete overview of the map, with the larger island having some things drawn in while other islands were entirely drawn in. The newest leak fills out the missing portion... Read more...
Earlier in the month, a GTA Online fan found a way to significantly reduce the load times for the popular game. Now, Rockstar has since confirmed the issue and has tipped its hat to t0st by way of bug bounty payout. Moreover, an update will be coming in the future that includes the fix, so hopefully, all players can enjoy a snappier experience. Github tostercx, who goes by t0st on his blog, explained that the bug stemmed from the way the game parsed a 10MB JSON file. In essence, it was being looped over many more times than necessary and subsequently created loading issues. T0st ended up fixing the issue with a workaround posted to his Github, where it gained quite a bit of traction. t0st's GTA... Read more...
GTA Online is Rockstar's incredibly popular cash cow that has been keeping gamers busy since 2013. Although the game should be relatively mature at this stage in its life, it still has plenty of flaws, such as horrendous loading times. These loading time issues have annoyed countless players, and now one player has tracked down the root issue to improve performance. GTA V fan T0ST recently picked up GTA Online again to finish some new heists that have come out since he last played, but he was "shocked (/s) to discover that it still loads just as slow as the day it was released 7 years ago." With some grit, determination, and perhaps even some spite, T0ST decided it was "time to get to the bottom... Read more...
Seeing Grand Theft Auto VI or Red Dead Redemption 3 in the future is a pretty safe bet considering those are Rockstar’s biggest IPs. The fan-favorite game from Rockstar, Bully, may not get the same treatment, however. Leakers have reported that Bully 2 got the axe back in 2017 due to its more popular franchises taking development priority. Does that mean it cannot be revived, though?   In late December, Rockstar insider Tez2 went to the GTA forums to explain a little bit of what happened at Rockstar since 2014. He claims that GTA VI was in “pre-production back in 2015, so development probably didn't kick off until 2016 or 2017, but shortly after that, the pace slowed down due... Read more...

Previously, we reported on the game-breaking bugs that cropped up when Rockstar Games rolled out a patch for Red Dead Online. Now, it seems Rockstar has taken to walking back their update rather than just taping over the holes with new patches. Earlier this week, a patch for the “naturalist” update on Red Dead Online lead to some rather interesting issues, such as horses not running correctly and appearing possessed (as seen below thanks to u/KnlKorn), NPCs vanishing or appearing ghostly, and guns not aiming correctly. After that update, users went to social media to discuss their numerous issues, which seemingly put an unfavorable spotlight on Rockstar Games. This spotlight seems... Read more...
An update to Red Dead Online has seemingly led to a whole host of issues for online outlaws around the world. This update has been anticipated for a while, with the promise of a new Frontier Pursuit mode, community content suggestions, and purported bug fixes. However, it seems the new content and bug fixes have opened a whole new can of worms for developer Rockstar Games. On July 28th, Rockstar Games released the “naturalist” inspired update with new content, bug fixes, and a battle-pass aspect of the game. With any new update, one could expect some bugs and glitches here and there, and that is what Rockstar looked to address with this latest patch. It seems, however, that they went... Read more...
Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) is an elusive beast that has eluded [official] detection for years. The current “big dog” Grand Theft Auto V was first released way back in September 2013, and has been available across two console generations (Xbox 360/PS3 and Xbox One/PS4). It will even be available natively on next-generation Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 consoles, which is quite unprecedented in the gaming realm. So, while Rockstar seems reticent to just letting us wait in agony for any news on GTA 6, it is at least giving us some new updates on its two current hot properties: GTA Online and Red Dead Online.  In the case of the incredibly popular (and highly lucrative) GTA Online,... Video game publisher Take-Two has one of the biggest video game franchises on the market thanks to Grand Theft Auto. The latest game in the franchise is GTA V, which is still incredibly popular despite having launched way back in 2013. Recently, Take-Two filed a 10-K with the SEC that shows what the company plans to spend on marketing over the next five years. That form showed that in fiscal 2024, more money would be spent on marketing than any other fiscal year over the next five years. The marketing spend for fiscal 2024 ending March 31, 2024, is $89 million, more than twice the amount for other years listed on the form. Analyst Jeff Cohen from investment firm Stephens believes that massive... Read more...
A pair of leaks have turned up on 4Chan that claim to outline details of Rockstar's forthcoming Grand Theft Auto 6. Fans of the franchise would do well to take these rumors with a grain of salt as there's no way to know for sure if any of these details are accurate. The leaker on 4Chan goes by Rhanadeng and claims to have been a friend of a disgruntled employee working on the game during 2019. The source claims that this employee allegedly asked him to anonymously leak information about GTA 6. However, things later improved, and he lost contact with the Rockstar team member. One key detail is that this person also claims the game has been in active development since 2016 or 2017, with pre-production... Read more...

One of the games that fans of the franchise love that PC players haven't been able to get on Steam is Grand Theft Auto IV. That is set to change with GTA IV coming back to Steam as GTA IV: Complete Edition. Right now, if you go to Steam and open the standard GTA IV page, it says that the game is "temporarily" unavailable for purchase and to check back for updates. Players can search for the GTA IV: Complete Edition page, and as of writing, there is no purchase button. The game can be added to the wish list to be notified when the game is available. The game is expected the launch on March... Read more...

A massive dump of allegedly leaked information has surfaced about the Rockstar title Grand Theft Auto 6. The user claims to have two friends with inside knowledge of what GTA6 will bring to the table. The rumor started on Reddit with a user named Thirdeyereddit who claimed to be a Take-Two employee. Take-Two is the parent company of Rockstar Games. According to the Reddit user who claims to be "lower on the food chain," Take-Two was working on a landing page for something unannounced.... Read more...
PC gamers were not happy when RockStar decided to forego the PC launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) right out of the gate. The move was no surprise, however. Rockstar game fans know that the developer will eventually launch RDR2 on the PC, it just wanted to wait until the fuss for the game on the console platforms dies down, and then port it to the PC to spur sales for a second time. Rumors about a port to the PC surfaced for the first time in June of 2018 before the game launched. Those first hints came from a LinkedIn Profile for a developer on the game, but the profile was quickly changed. Evidence again surfaced in October that a PC port was afoot. Now, we have indication from two developers... Read more...
