We've always heard that wherever there's a will, there's a way. That's exactly what SanDisk believes, as its newest memory card lineup targets gamers who actually think a specially labeled flash card will work best in their new handheld. Of course, we can't fault the marketing here--we're sure it'll work to some extent, but largely this is... Read more...

There's little doubt that Nintendo changed the gaming world forever with its Wii remote (or Wiimote, if you please). Now, Sony is under pressure to... Read more...

It happens to everyone: You're listening to your favorite band on your MP3 player and a friend comes over and starts talking to you before you even have a chance to get the earbud out, nevermind turn off the music. The Cell Broadband Engine Architecture (typically referred to as the Cell or Cell BE) processor used in Sony's PS3 was actually a joint venture between IBM, Sony, and Toshiba, but IBM and Sony have commercialized the architecture far more than their partner. That could change within a year or two; the electronics manufacturer has announced Read more...
Remember the days when you were content with a DVD player doing nothing more than playing back DVDs? Those days are long gone. Now, Blu-ray decks aren't even considered worthwhile against rivals unless they can do a whole mess of other things, including stream Web content, check Twitter feeds and enable users to... SanDisk themselves have publicly stated that no one can "out iPod the iPod," but evidently Sony did just that. According to a recent survey, Sony's own Walkman brand of digital media players outsold Apple's iconic iPod in Japan last week-- a feat that hasn't been accomplished in four years. Calling the victory "rare"... Read more...
It's unavoidable: 3D is the next big thing in television, whether you believe it or not. With 1080p panels losing their luster in terms of novelty, there's hardly any other feature that TV makers can add to entice you to upgrade. Besides, our current cable and fiber systems can't even deliver content en masse at a resolution above 1080p, so... Read more...
Sony still hasn't officially unveiled the VAIO X, but make no mistake, this beauty is for real. Briefly teased at the company's press event at IFA in Berlin, Germany, the VAIO X ultraportable is really nothing more than a glorified netbook, but Sony has already proven that it's a champion at that with the VAIO P and VAIO TT. Without question,... Read more...
More details have arisen about the Sony Ericsson Aino cell phone that will have some PS3 integration embedded in it. It's not the "PSP phone" that people keep talking about and hoping for, and to be honest, it seems to lack a lot of what people might have been hoping for. In a Q&A with the Euro PS blog, Sony Ericsson's Lisa Canning dished... Read more...
Digital photo frames have definitely fallen off the map. Just a few years back, these were the hottest gifts out there; today, they're mostly an afterthought. The reason? Frst off, we don't think people actually use these things nearly as much as they think they will when eying one in the store. Secondly, they've hardly evolved since debuting.... Read more...

We haven't a clue why Sony would choose today to introduce its S Series Walkman--after all, the company's Reader Daily Edition was also just announced, and it's undoubtedly the show stopper of the two. At any rate, those more interested in portable music than portable words just might find this tidbit more interesting. As rumored, the S Series... Read more...

Sony's newer, slimmer, sexier PlayStation 3 console is a nice piece of hardware. There's no doubt that the 120GB hard drive, lower power drain, sleeker look and $299 price tag will draw more than a few folks in, but those holding tight to yesteryear now have reason to pause. Unlike some of the first PS3 machines to hit the market, the new... Read more...
While Sony has made strides to ditch its proprietary ways in some aspects, it certainly has more work to do in others. Take the memory card game for example. Most everyone these days uses a camera that supports either SD/SDHC or CF (CompactFlash). You'd probably have to search pretty hard to find anyone using xD, Memory Stick Pro or any other...
