2018 Toyota Camry Goes From Subdued To Sexy In Jaw Dropping Sporty Redesign

When most Americans think of the Toyota Camry, the best-selling car in the United States for the last fifteen years, they probably do not think of the words “sexy”or “trend-setting”. The 2018 Toyota Camry, however, returns as the ever-dependable vehicle it has always been, but with a number of sporty and high-tech upgrades.

According to Bob Carter, Toyota's Senior Vice President of Automotive Operations, “The all-new 2018 Camry is, without a doubt, the most captivating mid-size sedan we’ve ever produced. It delivers on everything Camry owners have come to expect from America’s best-selling car, and adds to it, jaw-dropping design, more advanced technology, cutting-edge safety systems, and stirring performance that raises it to an unparalleled level of excitement.”

The Camry design team had three specific goals. The team wanted to develop a “practical-yet-emotionally styled” cabin, a “sporty and upscale” interior and exterior, and a low center of gravity that would result in a wide stance. The Camry will also be available in LE, XLE, SE, and XSE grades. The SE and XSE grade vehicles will have notable rocker panels and front bumpers, a subtle rear spoiler lip, and a lower diffuser on the rear bumper. The XSE grade will feature 19-inch black machined-finish alloy wheels as well. The interior of all the vehicles has been designed to be “driver-focused”.

The 2018 Toyota Camry also features three new powertrains: a 3.5-liter V6 with D-4S Fuel Injection, a 2.5-liter inline-4 Dynamic force engine, and a new edition of the hybrid system (which uses the latter 2.5-liter engine). Each of the powertrains has been engineered to provide a smoother drive while consuming less fuel in the process.

We cannot forget Toyota’s Human Machine Interface (HMI), which provides a number of interlinked interfaces. The 2018 Camry will incorporate a 10-inch color Head-Up Display (HUD) and seven-inch multi-information display within the instrument cluster. It will also include an eight-inch audio/navigation display and HVAC. Camry four-cylinder and hybrid models will feature a Connected Navigation Scout GPS Link with Moving Maps, JBL premium audio systems, and Entune 3.0. Entune 3.0 will be able to remote start and unlock the car, provide Wi-Fi, and update the driver on fuel levels and maintenance.

The 2018 Toyota Camry will be available this summer.
