Alienware Aurora R9, G5 Desktops And 55-inch OLED Monitor Lead Dell's Killer PC Gaming Onslaught
The Aurora R9 brings the new Legend industrial design to the desktop sector, having debuted originally with the redesigned Area-51m gaming laptop. The Aurora R9 is available exclusively with Intel processors topping out with a Core i9-9900K residing on an Intel Z390-based Micro ATX motherboard. Up to 64GB of DDR4-3200 memory is supported. PCIe NVMe SSDs up to 2TB in size can be optioned, and the system supports a range of graphics options including the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT and the entire family of NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards (albeit without the Super variants).
Dell says that the Alienware Aurora R9 will be available starting tomorrow priced from $969.99.
The other gaming PC on the way from Dell is the G5 Desktop (5090). Dell is targeting gamers on a budget with the G5, but still delivers some impressive specs. Like the Alienware Aurora G9, it supports up to a Core i9-9900K, up to 64GB of DDR4 memory (although it tops out at 2666MHz) and up to a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD. Graphics options are more limited, with base systems coming with a Radeon RX 560X and topping out with a GeForce RTX 2080.
According to Dell, the G5 Desktop (5090) is available starting today priced from just $629.
There are no less than four new gaming displays being announced today, with the headliner being the Alienware 55 OLED Gaming Monitor (AW5520QF). As its name implies, this is a 55-inch panel that delivers inky blacks thanks to its OLED panel. The display supports refresh rates up to 120Hz, and supports AMD FreeSync adaptive refresh rate technology. Response times are pegged a 0.5ms (gray-to-gray), while DCI-P3 color accuracy and depth is rated at 98.5 percent coverage.
Given its large size, you won't be surprised to find a native 4K resolution (3840x2160), and you can liven up the gaming atmosphere with AlienFX lighting. Dell says that the Alienware 55 OLED Gaming Monitor will ship on September 30th priced at a staggering $3,999.
There are two other Alienware gaming monitors that were announced today: the AW3420DW with a 34-inch 1900R curve and the 27-inch AW2720HF. The former has a 120Hz WQHD panel with NVIDIA G-SYNC support. The latter has a 240Hz FHD panel with support for AMD FreeSync. Both some with AlienFX lighting effects. The AW3420DW launches August 28th priced at $1,499, while the AW2720HF will be available September 17th for $599.
Finally, there's the Dell 32 Curved Gaming Monitor (S3220DGF), which supports a 1800R 165Hz QHD panel with AMD FreeSync 2 HDR and VESA DisplayHDR 400 support. This monitor will be available starting August 28th with a price tag of $599.
