Alleged NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Ti Turing Gaming Card Leaks With 7.5GB GDDR6
Could NVIDIA be cooking up something new in the Turing family of graphics cards? We've already seen plenty of activity on both ends of the spectrum with Turing-based graphics cards. At the high end, we have GeForce RTX 2070, RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti. Somewhere in the middle is the GeForce RTX 2060. At the low end, we have the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, GTX 1660 and unreleased GTX 1650.
Even though the GeForce RTX/GTX Turing family is jam-packed at the moment, a new UserBenchmark result seems to have uncovered a new, unannounced member of the family: the GeForce RTX 2070 Ti. The graphics card has a device ID of 10DE 1304 and an assumed base clock of 1.59GHz.
What's quite puzzling about this alleged newcomer, however, is that it has a total of 7.5GB of GDDR6. For comparison, the GeForce RTX 2070 and GeForce RTX 2080 both have 8GB of GDDR6. The most important takeaway, however, is that the card's benchmark performance slots its right between those two aforementioned graphics card, which is leading to speculation on the internet that this could indeed be the GeForce RTX 2070 Ti.
Third-party GeForce RTX 2070 cards retail for around $500, while their GeForce RTX 2080 counterparts can typically be had for around $700. That leaves a nice juicy middle ground of $600 for this assumed GeForce RTX 2070 Ti. NVIDIA is doing everything in its power to blanket to the low- to mid-range of the Turing product lineup, so it's not out of the question for the company to fill in some gaps at the higher-end of the GPU market.
However, we should take all of this information with a grain of salt at the moment. For all we know, it could simply be that UserBenchmark is misinterpreting the product ID strings presented by this particular graphics card. But on the other hand, it could simply be a preemptive strike against whatever AMD has up its sleeve with Navi-based Radeons later this year.
Whatever the case, we'll be keeping our eyes peeled to see if any more hard evidence shows up with regards to a GeForce RTX 2070 Ti.
