Amazon And Twitch Will Now Give Prime Subscriber Free Games Every Month
Amazon is adding yet another perk to its Prime membership program that is now about so much more than just free two-day shipping on millions of items. Leveraging the online retail giant's acquisition of Twitch from three and a half years ago, Amazon is going to start gifting games to Prime subscribers, through Twitch, each and every month. The new program kicks off this week.
"We’re celebrating the incredible community response to the Twitch Prime Indie Amplifier program and welcoming all of our new members with the introduction of Free Games with Prime, a brand new program that upgrades your membership by giving you a collection of free games every month starting this Thursday, March 15th," Twitch stated in a blog post.
The promotion Twitch references had gamers watch different streams and shows involving indie games. Viewers would then vote on their favorite games, with the title receiving the most votes being awarded to Prime members at no cost. This new program is sort of an extension of that, only gamers need only be Prime members—there is no requirement to watch a stream or cast a vote.

There will be five more games made available for free in April, including Tales from the Borderlands, SteamWorld Dig 2, Kingsway, Tokyo 42, and Dubwars.
"That’s 10 games in the next two months, all for FREE and yours to keep forever," Twitch points out.
This is a really neat value add for existing Prime members. It could also Amazon attract new subscribers, especially gamers who might have been on the fence about joining Prime. At current pricing, Prime membership's run $99 annually with a 30-day free trial, or $12.99 per month. If you're a student, the cost is $49 per year with a 6-month trial, or $6.49 per month.
