It is AMD’s time to shine this week, as the company announced availability dates for the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X and 1950X along with the addition of a new member of the family: the 8-core, 16-thread 1900X. AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper processors are aimed at enthusiasts, and they of course are going to want to overclock the snot out of them.

Luckily, those that rely on exotic forms of cooling to extract the most performance out a chip will be happy to know that the Ryzen Threadripper has a bit of headroom. The folks over at Lab501 were able to get a shot of a Ryzen Threadripper 1950X overclocked to 5.2GHz with liquid nitrogen.

If you need a refresher, the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X has a base clock of 3.4GHz and can turbo boost to 4GHz. However, on LN2, the processor was able to crack the 5GHz barrier — 5,187.62 MHz to be exact. The Ryzen Threadripper 1950X is using the standard 100 MHz bus speed coupled with a clock multiplier of 52x. The 16-core, 32-thread processor is said to be operating with a core VID of 1.162V at those breakneck speeds.

Coupled with the CPU-Z details is a screenshot of a Cinebench R15 result, where it put up a commendable score of 4122 cb.

AMD is set to launch the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X and 12-core, 24-thread Ryzen Threadripper 1920X on August 10th. The processors are priced at $999 and $799 respectively. They will be joined on August 31st by the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X, which will have an MSRP of $549.

And of course, there’s Radeon RX Vega, which is looking to give AMD some additional firepower in the enthusiast GPU market.
