Apple Refreshes iPod Touch With A10 Chip And Up To 256GB Storage
It has been several years since Apple has released an updated iPod touch. The former workout companion and 2000’s teen hangout mainstay has been supplanted by newer products like iPhones and iPads. Thankfully, the classic iPod touch is getting a refresh and an attractive price tag of $199.
The new iPod touch incorporates Apple’s 10 Fusion chip (first seen the elderly iPhone 7), which is a dramatic upgrade on the processing front. The device is the first iPod touch to feature AR gaming, education, web-browsing experiences and Group FaceTime. Its image detection can even bring 3D toys and sculptures to life. Users can downloaded a variety of games from the App Store right now and will be able to access Apple Arcade when it is released this autumn. Most importantly for any iPod, users will be able to download music for offline listening through Apple Music or iTunes.
The device measures 4.86 x 2.31 x 0.24 inches, is 6.1mm thick, and weighs 3.1 ounces. It incorporates a four-inch Retina multi-touch IPS display with a resolution of 1136 by 640 pixels. It also includes a 8-megapixel autofocus camera with a five-element lens, a hybrid IR filter, and HDR support and a front-facing 1.2-megapixel FaceTime HD camera with auto HDR support for photos. The device also includes a headphone jack and can last up to 40 hours when the user is just listening to music and up to 8 hours when the user is watching videos. This is a great entry-level device for a teen or a device for someone who simply wants to be able to listen to music and play games.
