We learned late last week that ASUS has penciled in October 18th for a U.S. launch event for the ROG Phone. Today, ASUS confirmed that the ROG Phone will be available for preorder online on that date from the ASUS Store, Amazon, and the Microsoft Store. The company also revealed that the phone will not come cheap -- it will be priced from $899.

So, what does $899 get you? Well, the ROG Phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor that is speed binned at 2.96GHz. The processor is paired with 8GB of RAM, and customers can opt for either 128GB or 512GB of internal storage. If that isn't enough storage for you, ASUS has also partnered with Google to provide customers with 100GB of Google Drive storage free for one year.

The ROG Phone has a large 6-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2160x1080. The display has a few tricks up its sleeve thanks to HDR support and its 90Hz refresh rate (which puts it a step above most other smartphones on the market, but just shy of the 120Hz benchmark set by the Razer Phone). The display has a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and can even support touch input with gloved fingers.

Other features that round out the phone include support for Aura RGB lighting (which can be customized) and a rather generous 4,000 mAh battery.

However, what makes the ROG Phone really standout is ASUS' dedication to providing gaming and productivity accessories to augment the device. And like the ROG Phone itself, these won't come cheap. The Mobile Desktop Dock -- which allows you to connect your phone to a 4K display, mouse, and keyboard -- costs $229.99. The TwinView Dock enables dual-screen gaming and incorporates physical trigger buttons and a quad-speaker sound system; it is priced at $399. The WiGig Dock, which turns your ROG Phone into a portable gaming console for your living room, is priced at $329.99 and can be  paired with the $89.99 Gamevice Controller. Finally, the ASUS Professional Dock is priced at $119.99.

We should also mention that while the 128GB ASUS ROG Phone is priced at $899, the 512GB version boosts the price to $1,099. The ASUS ROG Phone will be entering the market right about the same time as the Razer Phone 2, which is expected to make its debut in the coming weeks.
