ASUS Z390 Maximus XI Extreme Motherboard Leaks Ahead Of 9th Gen Intel Core Launch
One thing that has become clear in recent weeks that anyone who is planning on building or upgrading a PC around one of Intel's upcoming 9th generation Core processors will not have a lack of new motherboard options to choose from. We have seen leak after leak of new Z390 motherboards in recent weeks, including a fleshed out lineup from ASUS. As it turns out, though, ASUS has even more Z390 motherboards on tap, than what was previously leaked.
Just last week, what looked to be official press renders of nearly a dozen Z390 motherboards from ASUS found their way to the web. Among them were several ROG Maximus XI models, including the ROG Maximus XI Code, ROG Maximus XI Formula, ROG Maximus XI Hero, and ROG Maximus XI Hero Black Ops. Now we've learned there will be at least one more model.
Adding to the pile is the ASUS ROG Maximus XI Extreme. This is an extended ATX (E-ATX) motherboard that looms large over the lineup. We don't have a ton of details about the motherboard, but from looking at the press render, we can see a robust VRM with beefy cooling, two reinforced PCI Express x16 slots (plus one more that is no reinforced, for three total), and at least six SATA 6Gbps ports.
We can also see onboard Start and Reset buttons, both positioned below a diagnostic LED, and a small OLED display situated on top of the fixed I/O shield. This is not the first time that ASUS has plopped an OLED display onto a high-end motherboard. On previous models, users could have the display real-time system information, such as clockspeeds, fan speeds, temps, and so forth, or have it show custom messages.
ASUS is also planning to launch a micro-ATX ROG Maximus XI Gene and several Z390 Prime and TUF motherboards But that's not all.
The folks at Videocardz obtained photos suggesting the ROG Maximus XI series will support double-capacity RAM. Apparently G.Skill is readying a TridentZ RGB DC memory kit, and a company called ZADAK is getting in on the action too.
We'll find out more soon enough. Intel is expected to unveil at least three new 9th generation Core processors in October, and perhaps as early as October 1.
