Batman: Arkham Knight Limps Back To PC With 12GB RAM Recommendation For Windows 10

Batman Arkham Knight 01
Batman: Arkham Knight has been cleared for flight on the PC, but game performance still isn’t quite up to snuff despite the fact that developer Rocksteady Studios has been working overtime to make the game playable for PC gamers. Shortly after sales resumed via Steam, the complaints started rolling in… again.

Gamers took to reddit to complain about graphics stuttering, dropped frames, and graphics freezes. “I have worse framerates now than at launch. Less major drops but in some areas it'll be down around 40 consistently,” wrote reddit user Tibyon. “Then I'll go to another area and have rock solid 60. Low framerates especially while gliding.”

Warner Bros. acknowledged some of the lingering issues in a blog post. The problems are almost getting to be comical and leads us to wonder how the game was able to make it out the door in the first place:

We are still working with our GPU partners to add full support for SLI and Crossfire. In addition, we are working with these partners to address stability issues on certain cards related to the latest drivers… After extensive testing, a hard drive paging issue with some GPUs on Windows 7 may occur after extended gameplay sessions. If you encounter this, simply re-launching the game will resolve the issue.

And if that wasn’t enough, Warner Bros. is recommending that Windows 10 users have at least 12GB of RAM to avoid paging issues and to provide for a “smoother gameplay experience.” That requirement doesn’t extend to Windows 7 or Windows 8 users.

Batman Arkham Knight

Warner Bros. knows that it screwed up with Batman: Arkham Knight, and is trying to make it up to those that still want to purchase the game by providing free digital copies of Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY, Batman: Arkham City GOTY, Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. You can access the games if you have already purchased Batman: Arkham Knight or if you purchase the game prior to November 16th, 2015. Rocksteady will also make available a free "Community Challenge Pack” in January for those that own the game.

Not surprisingly, Batman fans weren’t exactly bowled over by the free gifts from Warner Bros. “Oh yeah, give away games of the same franchise that have been in plenty bundles before to compensate early adopters,” wrote Timmaeh the tuurnar. “Even if you grant gift copies to those 99% who already own the games, those gifts are worthless.“

“This costs them very little and that is the point,” added Animist Prime. “This is just a shady attempt to appease the PC community at no cost to them. They know exactly what they are doing.”

What say you HotHardware readers — is this a pretty lame “apology” for all the problems that have been attributed to Batman: Arkham Knight
