Borderlands: The Handsome Collection Is Free To Play This Weekend For Some Gamers

Borderlands
There is a ton of hype surrounding the Borderlands franchise right now, with Borderlands 3 set to release on September 13. If you are new to Borderlands or want to revisit some of the previous titles before the next one comes out, good news—Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is free to play this weekend. Well, for some users.

The free weekend has already begun and runs until Sunday, April 7, ending at 11:59 pm PT for Xbox One gamers and 10 am PT on the same day for PC players, via Steam. What about PlayStation 4 players? Unfortunately, they get left out of this round.

For those who are able to participate, there is a lot of content available. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection includes Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, along with a boatload of downloadable content (DLC).

It's also worth noting that Gearbox Software recently released an Ultra HD texture back for the collection, which bumps the graphics up to 4K on both console and PC. There's mention of HDR support on console, though it's not clear if that is also supported on PC. Either way, it's a visual upgrade, with remastered 4K environment textures, characters, and vehicles; improved anti-aliasing; and higher resolution dynamic shadows.

Should you decide that a weekend is not nearly long enough, you can buy Borderlands: The Handsome Collection at a deep discount right now. And unlike the free weekend, the discount applies to PS4 players as well. Here are some links...
There is a lot of value here for the money, and of course it gives you a chance to get up to speed with the franchise before Borderlands 3 comes out later this year.
