Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta PC Requirements Revealed, Preloading Begins

Activision plans to release its Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot a little over a month from now, and the company is dishing out the details on what the system requirements are for the game. We had a sneaking suspicion that gamers would need a stout system given how gorgeous the game looks -- especially with real-time ray tracing effects enabled -- but it is especially demanding with respect to memory.

Minimum and recommend system requirements have been posted, and Activision is calling for at least 8GB of system memory. However, moving over to the recommended specs, those requirements double to 16GB of memory.

8GB is likely the bare minimum that most folks buying a new PC will want to contend with, and 16GB is becoming more commonplace -- especially for enthusiast segment. In addition to the memory requirements, your gaming rig will need to be DirectX 12 compliant, and you'll need at least 45GB of free storage space to install the game. You can see the full round of specifications listed below:

Activision is quick to point out that these specs refer only to the PC beta, but we don't really see any further optimizations to the game code affecting things within the next month. Speaking of the beta, the first open beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare kicked off this past weekend exclusively for the PlayStation 4.

Those that preordered the game for Xbox One and PC platforms will be able to take part in the second open beta that runs from September 19th (today) through September 20th. Preloading for the PC open beta has commenced, and you'll be able to join in on the action starting at 9pm EST. The third open beta will be available across all three platforms -- PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC -- from September 21st through September 23rd.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare goes on sale for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms on October 25th. We should also note that if you purchase any new GeForce RTX graphics card from an authorized seller, you’ll get a free copy of the game thanks to a promotion sponsored by NVIDIA and Activision.
