Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Devs Fix Big Gunfight Mode Issues, Intro Stack Map

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will not launch until the end of October, but many gamers are already enjoying the alpha. As with all alpha and beta launches, there are already a slew of problems and new features. The developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare just released new maps and are looking into a variety of issues.

The alpha for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launched this past Thursday and gamers are able to test out “Gunfight mode”, or a 2v2 mode where players and a teammate are tasked with eliminating another duo. The first team to win five rounds is victorious.

The alpha launched with three small maps dubbed “Speedball”, “King”, and “Pine”. The developers, Infinity Ward, have now released another gunfight mode and two maps. One new map is called "Docks". Players were unable to connect online when the map was initially launched, but the developers have since resolved the issues. The other new map is called “Stack” and it resembles an abandoned cargo yard or depot. Players will spawn with a pistol, but will need to find other weapons and lethals that have been spread around the map.

The alpha has been well received, but developers are already working on fixing several glitches and gameplay issues. Many players have complained that other players are leaving Gunfight matches early. The developer stated that they are looking into creating penalties, but is unclear when these rules will be enforced.

Players have voiced several concerns about the game’s audio and visuals. They have noted that the player’s footsteps are incredibly loud, while their enemies’ footsteps are very soft. Players have argued that this feature makes it difficult to detect enemies. The developers claim that audio fixes will be available in beta.

Players also insisted that the black-and-white screen that appears when you are badly injured is disorienting. A red haze appears around the edges of the screen in other Call of Duty games. The developers have promised to look into the feature and potentially change it.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare alpha is currently available on the Playstation 4 and a PS Plus subscription is not required. The alpha ends on August 25th. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be available on October 25 on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
