Cricket Chirps No-Contract $55/Month Unlimited Everything Plan for iPhone 4S

Cricket today announced plans to sell pre-paid iPhone 4/S devices next month, which would make it the first (and only) U.S. carrier to do so. Customers will have two base models to choose from, an 8GB iPhone 4 in black or white for $400, or a 16GB iPhone 4S for $500, also available in black or white.

To go along with Cricket's no-contract iPhone 4/4S models, the carrier is rolling out a $55 per month all-inclusive unlimited talk, text, and data plan, the latter of which is becoming increasingly rare as wireless carriers dispense with all-you-can download data buffets in favor of tiered price plans.

"Our customers want the best products available and we are excited to bring iPhone to our pre-paid consumers with an industry leading $55 per-month service plan," said Doug Hutcheson, president and chief executive officer, Leap Wireless International, Inc. "Launching iPhone is a major milestone for us and we are proud to offer iPhone customers attractive nationwide coverage, a robust 3G data network and a value-packed, no-contract plan."

Because everything is unlimited, Cricket says there are never any overage fees or fluctuating monthly bills based on usage. Nor are there any early termination fees, since Cricket is selling the iPhone models outright and offering pre-paid plans rather than tying customers into two-year contracts.
