Dell Announces Hot New 24- and 27-inch Gaming Monitors With 155Hz AMD FreeSync Support
This is a big week for PC gaming. The annual Gamescom event kicks off tomorrow, which means new product and game announcements, teasers, and other fun stuff will dominate the headlines. Among the participants is Dell—the company announced a pair of new FreeSync gaming monitors with fast refresh rates for smooth gaming.
The new monitors are part of the Dell's recently introduced G series of products for games. They include the 24-inch S2419HGF and 27-inch S2719DGF. Both have a native 144Hz refresh rate, though the 27-inch model kicks things up a notch with support for overclocking to 155Hz when connected to the panel's DisplayPort.
It's no surprise that both monitors are using Twisted Nematic (TN) panels, considering that both also boast a fast 1ms response time. TN panels typically trade superior image quality as found on In-Plane Switching (IPS) panels for fast action visuals.
"Users can customize up to three user-defined profiles and choose preset modes for the best personalized gaming experience.The gamer-inspired Recon-Blue metallic paint complements Dell gaming PCs for a unified look and gaming experience. During the warranty period, Dell Premium Panel Exchange allows a free panel replacement even if only one bright pixel is found," Dell says.
The 24-inch monitor has a 1920x1080 resolution and the 27-inch model features a 2560x1440 resolution. Both use an LED edge-light system, have a 1,000:1 typical contrast ratio (8,000,000:1 dynamic), 350 nits brightness, and 84 percent coverage of the NTSC color space.
Connectivity options on the 24-inch monitor include two HDMI 1.4 inputs, a DisplayPort 1.2 input, two USB 3.0 downstream ports (and one USB 3.0 upstream port), a headphone output, and an audio line output. One the 27-inch model, you get a HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 1.4 ports (one each), a DisplayPort 1.2 input, three USB 3.0 downstream ports (and one USB 3.0 upstream port), a USB BC1.2 charging port, a headphone out jack, and an audio line out jack.
The 24-inch S2419HGF and 27-inch S2719DGF will be available on August 28 for $319.99 and $549.99, respectively.
