Elon Musk's 'Boring' Flamethrower Coming To Borderlands 3 If You Can't Swing The Real Deal

Boring Company Flamethrower 2
Say what you want about Elon Musk, but the dude has a sense of humor. Either that, or Musk knows something about some sort of flammable C.H.U.D. creatures thanks to the folks at The Boring Company. Musk tweeted that The Boring Company flamethrower is real and that it is for sale.

You can order one up while supplies lasts for $500 plus tax via The Boring Company website. If you can’t sell your significant other on the need to drop $500 on a flamethrower (it would be the best way ever to light the BBQ this summer), you will have the chance to play with one virtually. Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford tweeted at Elon Musk that he wanted to put the flamethrower into the next Borderlands game.

Pitchford offered to allow Musk to write the "flavor text" and Musk tweeted back that he was fine with the flamethrower being used in the game. It almost feels as if the "sentient" flamethrower was an advertisement for the game. However, reports indicate that Musk and his hole digging company have already made as much as $4 million in sales off the flame throwers.

Musk said previously that the flamethrower would go on sale once The Boring Company sold all 50,000 of the hats it was offering, those hats all sold, and Musk made good on his promise. As of the last tweet, Musk confirmed that 7,000 of the flame throwers had been sold. He also said that the sentient flamethrower has a safe word (cryptocurrency if you are wondering) and comes with free blockchain. Who knows if that is seriously part of the deal. Musk said previously that only 20,000 of the flamethrowers would be sold. You can also drop another $35 on the official The Boring Company fire extinguisher to go along with it.

As for Borderlands 3, fans have been waiting for a follow-up to 2012's Borderlands 2 for years now. The game was delayed for undisclosed reasons. At least the confirmation that the flame thrower will go into the game means that it is still in the works. Way back in 2016, Easter eggs for Borderlands 3 were supposed to have been hidden in a Battleborn DLC.
