Facebook Getting A Facelift? New Designers Join Team FB
That means Facebook has hired the three partners in question -- Jon Lax, Geoff Teehan, and David Gillis -- as opposed to buying out the company, which will reportedly shut its doors. Some other members of the senior designers at the firm have also joined the Facebook team, though the majority of employees will soon be looking for new work.

Founded in 2002, Teehan+Lax has served hundreds of clients, including the social network and publishing platform Medium, social reader Flipboard, and even some work on Facebook's Atlas ad-serving technology.
"We are incredibly excited about the future. The things we will be doing at Facebook are amazing new challenges. The scope and scale of them are simultaneously thrilling and scary. The opportunity to make things that will impact over a billion people is extraordinary," the trio of designers stated in a farewell post on Teehan+Lax's website.
The lengthy farewell message went on to describe the company's journey over the past 12 years, how it's evolved, and that ultimately the three partners feel as though the company accomplished what it set out to, hence the decision to move forward with Facebook.
This is a huge talent grab for Mark Zuckerberg and company, as well as a great opportunity to improve upon the world's largest social playground, visually and functionally. What changes are in store remain to be seen, but given Teehan+Lax's past successes, this bodes well for Facebook.
