Flappy Bird Returns With Multi-Player Functionality, Makes A Beeline For Amazon Fire TV

Been wondering if Flappy Bird would ever fly again? Now you have your answer -- as promised, Dong Nguyen, the creator of the original hit mobile game that spawned numerous clones trying to cash in on the craze, just released Flappy Birds Family via his Gears studio through the Amazon Appstore for Android.

It's a free title and compatible with Amazon's Fire TV platform, though at the time of this writing, it's not available through Google Play or on Apple's iOS platform.

"Flappy Birds now are on Amazon Fire TV with incredible new features: Person vs Person mode, more obstacles, more fun and still very hard," the game's description reads on Amazon. "Enjoy playing the game at home (not breaking your TV) with your family and friends."

The game offers support for Amazon's Fire TV remote and its dedicated game controller -- instead of tapping a screen, you push a button. Also new is the split screen mode for mulit-player. You and a family member or friend can play at the same time.

After sitting on the market and going largely unnoticed for some time, the original Flappy Bird became an overnight success story. At one point, Nguyen said he was collecting $50,000 per day through in-game ads. Shortly after, he yanked the game offline due to angry letters he received from parents and teachers about the game's addictive nature.
